Driver door latch

My drivers door latch was sticking not allowing me to shut my door. I pulled the inner panel off to make sure the cable was not stuck all seemed fine. I removed the latch beat on it a bit and it became unstuck and seemed to work fine. I didn't trust it so I bought a new (aftermarket) latch from ebay. I installed the latch and tried it before full assembly. It worked fine the 1st few times and then it didn't. The 1st time it didn't work I pulled the lever for the inside cable and it opened. Closed the door again and the outside worked again a few times and then didn't. this time pushing the lever for the inside latch does nothing and now I cannot get my door open. Fortunately the door panel is still off but not sure what to do. Any ideas?

So after playing with this it appears that the latch is stuck in the lock position internally. I will have to destroy the latch with the door closed and hope that at some point I can break it free of the striker. Not fun.

when mine got stuck, it turned out be the cable not hooked at the right length. the "holding jacket" slid out and it appeared to be pulling just enough for me not to be able to open the door from both sides. after reseating the jacket, the latch worked fine.

my door panel was off and I could see and put my fingers on both cable ends. The were both pulling full in fact after locking the door when you pulled on the inside cable the lock came up like it was now unlocked but would not unlatch the door. I got the door open by using a screw driver and pry bar splitting the housing of the latch in two. I flipped the latch cam and opened the door. I ended up cleaning and lubing the original factory latch and reinstalling. Everything working fine now. The new latch I put in definitely malfunctioned internally.

glad it is working now...in my case, I have to remove the door panel WHILE the door was closed..not fun at all.

Hi, just reading this post, i have a 2012 Countryman, the door actuator on the drivers door failed (i thought). I replaced with a new one (aftermarket) this worked for about 2 days. Couldn't open from the inside or outside however when the inner handle was pulled the button on the door popped up, i tried everything i could and had to revert to removing the door card with the door closed (as mentioned above) not an easy task. Pulling the levers on the actuator manually with my hand it still wouldn't open. Resorted to destroying a new actuator as i figured it must have failed mechanically inside. I replaced with another new actuator, after market again but a more expensive one this time as i thought the first one may have been a cheap one (buy cheap, pay twice).
Got the second new one installed. opened it closed it, locked and unlocked it drove around in it so the auto locking mechanism activated when it was driven. Even left it overnight and did it all again the next day. All looked good so put all the door card back on.
It lasted two days and its done the same thing, cant open it from inside or out.

Can anyone advise, surely it cant be two faulty new actuators
Thanks all
