Interior dome light fixture removal

2013 Mini Cooper S Countryman (R60)

Does the interior dome light fixture (the entire housing, not just the bulb cover) simple pull out and away from the headliner? I have pulled with a little force and it doesn't seem to want to come out, but I am hesitant to pull harder because if it is secured in with screws or something, I do not want to break it.

Reason for wanting to remove it is because when I was replacing a bulb, I accidentally turned the bulb seat housing and in fell up (into the fixture/roof) and I need to secure it back to the fixture. (I know now that the bulb seats are only installed with a half turn)

Thanks in advance!

start on the end closest to passenger window. Slide a trim removal tool (plastic) between the end and the liner a bout 1/4 inch and give it a good tug! The two posts have split and wide teeth that go into the mounting holes. It feels like it would break but it does not. It’s in tight.

I have marked the 2 pins with arrows. This is my 2018 MINI Cooper CountryMan F60.

In the F60, The dome reading lights can be displaced from its housing by making a strong pull holding the module on the end that is closer to the rear view mirror. The pull must be a strong & courageous pull in the downward direction. As the 2 pins bend a little and make a loud noise> the module will disengage from its housing and drop down.

When the module needs to be put back, the 2 metal pins need to be bent back into place and gently jammed back into the housing. If the Pins are not adequately bent> to lock into its housing> the module will be loose & wobbly. I opened this dome reading lights module to check and see if there was a unused connector hidden underneath for retrofit of an auto dim mirror.I could not find any loose connector for the rear view mirror.
