R60 Need help r60 bov
Need help r60 bov
So I’ve been searching the internet for blow off valves and so far I’ve come across the forge BOV, TurboSmart BOV, GoFastBits BOV, M7 BOV, and cheap EBay ones. It also seems that no one has posted about the r60 BOV or had any reason to so I’ll create one. I have a couple of questions.
1. Will I throw a code with a BOV that doesn’t recirculate the air (I plan on tuning it so would I be able to program out the CEL)
2. Which one would be best for the price (obviously)
3. I do want the extra cool noises that BOVs make so if anyone has any other BOV suggestions please feel free to comment
I don’t have that many supporting mods but then again I’m just starting to mod out my Countryman so any advice would be helpful. Also the only real mod I have is a K&N Open air box intake.

You don't see people running the BOV that vents to atmosphere as most the time the car will go into limp mode or throw a light as the ECU watches to see the boost recirculate and if it doesn't then it thinks something is wrong.
We run the Forge recirc valve on all the R60's that we have built and it works great. Plus you can swap springs if you increase boost.

If your goal is the Pshhhh sound just go with an open intake as that will give it to you. But keep in mind that an open intake like that will actually suck hot engine air and usually reduces torque and HP.

Does the forge recirc valve give that satisfying pshhhh noise? I already have an open intake
The DV+ is actually pretty quiet, but works very well. The factory airbox with a better panel filter is your best bet in an R60. The only true cold air intake available for it really is the stock box. It will keep your IAT down better than any cone filter
It recirculates it like the stock valve so if you have the noise you want with the stock valve it's going to be very similar, but may be shorter or a little different since the Forge valve is going to dump the boost quicker
