better belt on the market

I just got my belt replaced by dealership, major loud sound (thinking I needed a new engine), after talking to the mechanic, it seems these belts only last for 24k miles.
Are there better belts on the market that will last longer.

Mine was not changed until 40k and that was done due to some early signs of cracking and four years of use.

The serpentine belt? Never heard of one dying this early on a modern car.

on my last vehicle (GM) the belt was replaced at 150k miles, i'm at 52k miles on my mini and according to the mechanic it's probably the second belt being replaced.

The recommendation is to check the belt after every second oil change. High mileage and even weather conditions can contribute to cracking. In any event, it's fairly cheap insurance to install a new one.

Thanks for the advice, how long would the belt tensioner be good for, would this item have a longer life compared to the belt.

Great, I will check them out (Gates Century Series belt for N18), but I will still monitor this belt every second oil change.

I replaced the belt on our 2012 when I did the clutch job. It was 4 years old, 30k miles and had major cracking. I used Gates.
