Coming back to a MINI, picking up a Countryman tomorrow

I previously owned a 2005 MCS Convertible, but sold it about 4 years ago. Tomorrow I go pick to up a 2011 Countryman S with just a nick over 50K miles.

It's surf blue, black interior, 6 speed, and ALL4. Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, Sport Package, and Navigation. Also has the Comfort Access option and the Pano roof

I'll post up some pics tomorrow, but the combination of surf blue, anthracite 18 inch wheels, and a white roof is just, to my eye, a beautiful combination.

Previous owner (1) had every single service done at the dealer, so I have all the records. Plus he had purchased the extended maintenance plan, so I've got free scheduled service until March 2017, since that transfers with the car.

I'm fairly stoked!!

Well, I've ran into a snag. Seems like my trade, a 2008 Honda Ridgeline, was just added to the list of Hondas being dragged into the airbag recall issue. The Mini dealer, understandably, doesn't want a car on their lot with an open recall, and Honda says parts to do the recall repair are months away from getting to dealers. So, for now, I'm stuck with the Ridgeline.

So, my quandary is, do I want to get the CMS anyway, and just carry two car payments and insurance for a few months?

Need to decide here in the next day or so, or someone will snag the CMS.

If you've found that one locally and it has everything you want (it's well optioned - especially difficult to find the comfort access), then it may be worth jumping on it

On the other hand, if you're willing to travel or wait, then you may be ok - PM me if you're interested, as I'm going to be in the market to trade mine in a couple months or so (looking to get into something a little larger for my 3 kids)

[hmm...dealer I bought my e46 from didn't have any qualms selling a vehicle under active recall, but being in a southern, humid, state may be a little different]

Depends on your financial situation. I assume there will always be another CM that will work for you and the timing of the Honda fix isn't guaranteed so relax and wait. I've known plenty of people who've been stuck with two cars, two houses or one wife and a GF at the same time, rarely ends well.

Hey, I happen to know where there is a really minty low mileage Ridgeline for sale. Just the thing for active growing families.

I was actually considering keeping both vehicles anyway. Financially, I can easily afford both, I put down about 50% cash on the Ridgeline, so my payments are small, and was thinking about doing the same on the Countryman. Payments on the Countryman would be under $200. It's actually the insurance that bugs me. Not that I can't afford it, I can, In just hate giving that much money to insurance companies.

But.......

having said all that, I'm going to buy the Countryman tomorrow. I've decided I can easily float both cars for however long it takes for Honda to do the recall, and then I can decide to keep/sell the Ridgeline. Dealer is holding the Countryman for me until I can get there tomorrow afternoon.
