2nd catalytic converter & resonator

I have been provided with some advice to remove the 2nd cat conv. and resonator which I should replace with a straight pipe in order to produce a more deep sounding tone from my exhaust.

Question is though, is it safe for my car to do this? As in, am I going to possibly create mechanical problems for myself by removing these parts?

Cheers.

I've recently performed this operation on my Countryman S ($80 for a stainless pipe), did not notice any change with the sound, however, things will change this coming spring once I replace the DP with a catless DP and a stage 1 tune.
More ponies underneath the Hood ...

You didn't notice any sound increase? Really? I was told there would be, and this video here shows a major increase and he hasn't installed a new exhaust system

On the video it sounds like a non-turbo model, if so, yes, the sound will be louder compared to a Countryman S with Turbo.
