How do I get web audio working??

Does anyone have any tips for getting web audio apps like Spotify working on my '15 Countryman (with Connected option)?

I connect my iPhone via USB and run the 'Mini Connected' app. It connects and allows me to select 'Spotify' from 'Other Apps'. The Spotify app runs on my iPhone and is displayed on my Mini's display. It even shows the current song playing, but I get no audio!

I tried Pandora and Amazon Music and the same thing happens. My Mini thinks it's playing, but I get no audio.

Has anyone else encountered this? Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to work??

Thanks!!

Are you using a Y cable? The system in Countryman (and other 2nd gen models like R56) gets audio through the aux input. No audio passed through the USB.

Spotify works for me. I have noticed that twice the y connector comes loose (the audio jack pulls outs slightly) and the audio is muffled but when I push is in all the way the audio works fine.

Also, check to see if your running the latest software in your mini.

ahhhh - the 'Y" connector! That makes sense. Now if only Mini included a 'Y' connected for a modern iPhone 6 and not a 2008-era iPod things would be great.

Has anyone sourced a 'Y' connector with the current iPhone connector?

MINI has a Lightning connector version. If you just bought the car, you might even ask your dealer if you can exchange it.

Or you can get a Lightning to 32-pin adapter from Apple, and use it with the Y cable you have.

My car is just over two weeks old, so I'm definitely going to hit my sales rep up for the correct cable.

Update - My sales rep admitted that Mini provides an outdated cable then offered to sell me one for $85. $85? After spending nearly $40K on a Countryman?!

I bought this one instead:
BMW / Mini Cooper "Y" Cable BMW / Mini Cooper "Y" Cable
