R60 Software update and now no Mini Connected!
Hi,
I went in for an oil change last Monday. They told me the car was saying it needed new front brakes. So, they then said it was a known software update. So, dropped my car of Saturday morning. They called, said my radio failed updating and they needed to replace it.
Said would be ready Monday after work. I call about 4pm as I had not heard anything and wanted to pick up after work, but they said they would not be ready until Tuesday. So, today they called about 11:30 and said it was ready.
So, I pick up the car and am driving home and everything appears fine, but I went to check on Mini Connected and it was missing. Instead the Icon says Mini Assist and when I click on it I see Services Available and nothing else. I try to run applications which I have plug-ins for and nothing. I am wondering if they somehow replaced the radio with the wrong part? Am waiting to hear from the dealer, but am playing telephone tag with the person they told me to talk to.
Has anyone else experienced this? Losing Mini Connected functionality after a software update?
Thanks,

Not sure, but I was told that when my brakes were programmed, it would take all day, because the rest of the vehicle needed to be flashed, there was no separate flash for the brakes. Oddly, same engine tune, less rough idle.
Got my car back today. They actually had someone drive it to me at work and pick up the loaner.
MINI Connected is back and everything appears to be back to normal. My understanding on the software update is they run it and it communicates with 20 or so modules, at least that is what they said. Course, they also told me there was only one update which they download from MINI and it was specific to my car. I would think if that were true Connected would have been there. I suspect they had to install something in addition.
Moral of this story is if you get a software update make sure to go through all of the functions prior to leaving. I know I will if it ever needs upgrading again.
Only good thing that came out of this is that I am confident now with the options I selected. The loaner was a CMS, beige headliner, automatic, no comfort access, no flat-load and had bench seats in the back. Not sure if there is a difference in suspension from CMS to CMS-All4, but it seemed squishy? Maybe not as planted in corners is a better description. Could have been the regular tires being less firm compared to my run-flats, but it felt like it had a ton of body roll compared to mine.
Just glad it is finally back.
