Windshield Wiper Fluid

The CM user's manual states that I should dilute windshield wiper fluid with 50% water before putting it in the reservoir.

Do you guys do this? It seems odd to me since I live in New England. Won't it freeze?? I've never done this with previous cars.

They are referring to the European/BMW concentrate fluid. Our stupid US fluids are already cut with water. Yey!! Pay for water!!

I don't know if it's changed formulation since I bought my 2008 Clubman, but in the first year I owned it, I used it maybe once or twice, and it caused damage to the paint. Dealer hemmed and hawed, but paid to have it polished out. Haven't used it except in a deluge since.
