Hauling a tandem bicycle

Anyone out there carrying a tandem bike on their Countryman? Are you using a roof rack, or something else? Pictures?

Not super helpful but on my R55 we carry regular bikes and the tires do poke past the sides of the car when looking at the beltline , but not much past the fenders and not at all past the mirrors.

I was going to a bike ride in Jan and with our bikes on the rack, we passed an accord with a tandem on a traditional hatch/truck rack and it was way too wide. He used up most of the lane and IIRC the wheel was turned so that the front tire of the bike wasn't sticking out.

I would think you would look at getting a roof rack and modifying or building a custom carrier to attach to the roof rack. Tried the bike forums to see what other cars use to transport on the roof?
