I talked to a sales person the other day and it seems the official line is that it was necessary. With everything they make labeled Cooper, it was getting way too confusing. People were coming in and saying they saw a Cooper on the road and then getting totally lost as to what it actually was.

I am fairly there was some sort of brouhaha when th car first came out about the fact that its actual name was nowhere to be found, thereby possibly causing confusion. I think I saw it here and in car magazines.
Could this be a case of MINI giving people a dose of "careful what you wish for"

So, am I correct in understanding this is now standard? I just ordered a CMS All 4 and if this is the case, will wait to see how it looks prior to actually getting the stripes put on, as I think I will be removing the letters first.

Can anyone please advise as to whether or not this will be standard on ones ordered in the states?

Thanks,

Looks good! So is it optional to get your cars badged?

Hi, everyone. I just joined this forums since I also ordered my first Mini Countryman and it's going to be here for another 4 weeks. I am also in the design business and when I saw this new badging system, I can not believe it. The strategy is correct, but the execution is wrong. Personally, I think it just destroy the simplicity design before and I don't like it. Already called the sale person today, he did not even know about this until I told him. Unfortunately, mine will have this new badging on the back. According to him, he said that after 3.13.13 production will all have this. I told him they have to remove it otherwise, I am seriously consider to cancel my order. If someone don't mind or even liking it is totally fine. But for me, I did not pay the money to buy something it was not like that before. But the sale person said they can remove them no problem. I just hope with that 10 letters, it won't mess up the paint. And they have to move the JCW logo back down to where it was, hopefully, that is not screwed in.

My plan is similar. I'm going to remove the Cooper badging and replace it with similar looking Countryman badging. Looks like replacement letters will run about $60

Is that all I need to do? I can't stand the dealer slapping their logo on my boot, I want it gone as well. Goo gone is ok for the paint?

Linda

goog-gone is GREAT. I use it to debadge as described, but also to help with some aspects of bird/tree droppings as well...

Just make sure that after you use the Goo Gone that you wipe the area done well and that wax it.

I like it. A lot actually. I also like if you have stripes it rounds off right before the text. I may add this to mine. I think it looks slick.

I just realized why the hideous lettering looks familiar...

At least Crossfire is a cool name. While I love my Countryman, I always thought the name was kind of (actually, VERY) lame.

I'm also in the minority in that I like it. I may look into adding it to my 2012.
