38+ mpg on rural roads at 55-60 mph

overall 28.8 mpg average since new

under 20 mpg in town

the mpg has improved as the miles have increased

all of these mpgs are using E0 fuel (no ethanol)

using E10 fuel, i see 4-6 mpg less across the board

just tallied up my first 10,000 miles and i have burned just over 90% E0 fuel

I have an '11 justa with a manual tranny. Getting 24-25 in suburban driving. Just had it for 2 weeks now. That is almost exactly what my Clubman S got with an automatic got.

currently testing the "keep it between 3000-4000 rpm in cruise" theory. so far things look promising.

I think the best mpg I get is when I cruise right around 71 mph. OBC says about 33-35 mpg. Then I crank it up to my normal highway speed of 78 and u can hear the engine working harder and cranking out about 26 mpg.

I usually average around 28mpg hwy.
I just did a 600mi trip to VT & back. 90% highway. I averages only 24mpg. What a disappointment.
Now, I dont expect sticker ratings due to unrealistic EPA testing(50mph, 0% ethanol, grandma driving, etc) But 24mpg is quite low considering its only a 1.6L. My roof rack/boards & 70+mph certainly lowered the milage.

Manual transmission 50/50 hwy/city driving: am enjoying 29.5 average mpg. This is great compared to my Highlander which got 19mpg.

14 months, 19,000 miles and steady at 27MPG. I was hoping for a little better given that most of it is highway driving, but it's an improvement over the 16 MPG I used to get with the previous snow / dog vehicle.

I have a non S and no matter how I drive in the city I never get above 23 MPG. These are manual calculations not based on the OBC. So far I am pretty disappointed by the MPG, but than I remember how fun it is to drive and that all goes away. Lol.

The first few weeks I had my car, the OBC wasn't programmed in, and I only got about 24 mpg. Once they loaded it in and I could see it, I started getting about 28-29 mpg, because I was aware of what the fuel trade-off was for using each gear at a given speed.

if your trips are short and the engine never warms up fully, your mpg will be very low

if you toggle the OBC display to the instantaneous mpg page you can see the mpg increase as the engine warms up

i have found that with the sport button on, there will be no pop/burble from the exhaust until the engine is fully warmed up, so you can use that as a clue to engine temp

i have the all4 and in town i am usually at about 20 mpg unless i accelerate very slowly and shift before 3,000 rpm ... but that is not fun so it seldom happens, fortunately, less than 20% of my driving is city

Well below expected...

I have the 2012 Countryman All4 automatic, running about 50/50 city and highway. Stuck on 23.x mpg. Even when trying to drive conservative. Considering trying a tank in manu-matic mode to see if it improves.

Bought car on Black Friday Hope to see improvement as miles add up. Enjoy the mess out of driving it, until "are you serious? Down to 60 miles remaining already?". Good thing I can alternate with a V6 F150 SuperCrew; it only gets slightly worse mpg.

2013 CMS, manual tranny. breaking 3400 miles since March 1st and been seeing around 27 city and on a trip to/from Houston yesterday i got right about 32mpg with cruise set between 65 and 75 depending on speed limits.

Coming from a jacked up Toyota Tundra with 35" tires on 20" wheels and 4.30 gears front and rear. 10 WHOLE MPG.

3 times the mileage is great!

The last 3 tanks have been 29.7 MPG calculated manually with my 12' CMS with 8900 miles. The OBC always reports about 31.5 over the same period. This is about 80/20 hwy/city.

2011 All4s, 25 months, nearing 30,000 miles and never averaged anything higher than 23mpg....with or without sport button engaged. Disappointing...but a blast to drive.

i have an all4 manual ... my dad liked it so much he bought an all4 automatic

i get much higher mpg than he does

i borrowed his for a couple days and found that by using manual shifting ALL THE TIME i got almost as good mpg as my manual

put your tach display on instantaneous mpg and watch the mpg change with gear changes while at a steady speed

my dad's auto keeps the rpm too low in full auto mode

I get 22-23mpg no matter how I drive. Tried sport button on/off, driving like grandpa/like I stole it, cruise control on/off, kept it under 65/over 80. Didn't matter.

So now I just drive it like normal....sport button on, over 80, drive it like I stole it.

And just to refresh my memory, what kind of mileage does your all4 manual get? I ordered a base manual and hope to get close to the 30 combined average since I'm about 60/40 hwy to city miles..

from new to current total of ~10k miles, 28.8 mpg overall

~60% rural, ~20% city, ~20% highway

highest single tank 41.9 mpg, 411 miles, 9.8 gals, all interstate @ 55 mph on cruise ... probably never see that again ... was a gofer parts run for work ... decided to see just how high i could get the mpg

One thing to remember - in most regions of the country, the fuel formulation changes between winter and summer. Here in the Northeast, you can definitely tell when stations switch between winter and summer fuel.

If your CM/CMS is new within the last 4-5 months, you may notice an increase in mileage once the summer fuel starts flowing. Production of "summer blend" usually starts in March and hits the distribution channels between April and June. The summer blend is actually "purer" owning to the need to keep the level of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) down. For more info, search "Reid Vapor Pressure".

Yea, I've had one of those..A/C on going uphill in the Wyoming mountains..got 35mpg in my Accord...never happened again lol

I would be thrilled to be getting over 28mpg in the base CM manual, only time will tell. Hopefully taking delivery in mid-April.

i should add that ~90% of the fuel i have used is E0, no ethanol

i get 4-6 mpg higher than when using E10 10% ethanol fuel

http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp is a source of stations selling E0 fuel

Agree 100%. I was at 27.2MPG on the OBC from new to 13,600 miles. That was in October when I put the snow tires on and probably around the time the winter fuel formula kicked in. I did not reset the OBC but I am now at 26.6MPG at just over 20k miles on the car. Since both figures are cumulative from delivery miles, the winter fuel and tires combined probably resulted in a 1.5 to 2.0 MPG drop in fuel economy - total SWAG calculation but likely not too far off.
The winter tires will come off in 4 to 6 weeks and I'll reset the OBC at that point to see if It goes back to the 27MPG range, then reset it again in the fall when the winter tires go back on.

This is on a manual All4 with NorCal CA gas formula which is believed to yield lower gas mileage due to smog control additives. I don't work for a petroleum company so I can't prove it but read it many times.

Nice road trip

Spur of the moment (2:00 PM Sunday afternoon) went on a road trip to NCAA finals.

1480 miles. Averaged 67 MPH over the course of the entire trip. Set cruise at 78 in the 70 zones, 74 in the 65 zones, and 63 in the 55's

Mileage was just short of 29.5 MPG.

Here in the northeast, it appears that they have changed-over to summer blend already. Gas Cubby says that last week I averaged 28.4 MPG and the week before 28.5. In the weeks prior to that, I was averaging between 23 MPG and 25 MPG.

Driving conditions were about 90% city with an average speed of 26.7 mph in a 2012 CMS (non-All4) w/automatic, no sport button, no paddle use. But seriously, good mileage but not a lot of excitement...that's what the R53 JCW is for!
