I'm in Canada and my car is at the service centre today for some other issue, and they are doing the replacement for me at the same time.

coolant sensor

I took mine in for the audio receptacle not holding the plug in place causing music to cut in and out. Thats when I was told that there was a recall for the coolant sensor. Now Im having cold start issue. Its not revving up like it did prior to the service and then it drops off way to soon leaving leaving me with a little rough idle for a min or two. In process of doing this a sensor between the filter and turbo was broken off then glued back on. I was told that this piece always breaks off and that they always glue them back on. Sounds like a faulty design which should be reported and corrected not glued and forgotten. I had to finish placing the wire loom back on. But they did re glued the part making it look better but I still wonder if thats the right fix

Would this be an issue a new CM needs to be concerned about? My CM is only a month old...so should I assume the issue was corrected at build? Or would it be recommended that I contact my service advisor?

Coolant temp Sensor Recall

I would think they would have taken care of it already but it wasn't an issue they just took care of it when I came in for a different service.

I was just curious if they were able to do anything about your audio out issue? I have to wiggle mine or unplug and plug back in for audio to work correctly.
Thanks.

Cool. Let me know if the replacement works any better.
I hope they are able to find something and fix your cold start issue.

Also, after the ECU reprogram, it does not seem to have as much zip any more!!
I took mine in for a different reason wound up having the recall done and now it doesn't sound or heat up or even feel the same anymore no popping like before its not the same car

That stinks, 6 hours in a dealership, even with a nice lounge, is a long time. I love my dealership, they tell you up-front when you buy a car that they give a loaner anytime they need to keep it for more than a couple hours.

I've heard other dealers (not just Mini) make this claim, and if you hear it that should be a red flag that they are dishonest and will claim anything to sell you a car. The issue is obvious...no dealer has an unlimited supply of loaner cars. The best I've seen is at a Mercedes dealer I use. If they run out of loaners, they will bring in a rental car at no charge from the Enterprise rental location down the street. But that's only if you have a scheduled appointment.

took my dad's cms all4 in for a bad stumble when cold complaint, they decided they needed to keep it overnight and had no loaners available, so they rented a car for me at no cost

it was a mazda 5, nice car

as to the stumble, they could not reproduce it, but they did change the plugs (no cost) and it has not recurred ... hmmmmm

Your totally right in most cases, however Sewell, the owners of Mini of Plano, are extremely serious about service and they are very good about taking care of their MINI owners. while I'm sure something happens occasionaly where they are out of cars, they just grab a salesman's ride, as they all drive MINIs too, and let you use it for the day.

I live nearly an hour away from my Mini dealership...they always bring me a Mini or BMW loaner, pick up my car, drive it to the dealership for service and then bring back mine the next day and take back their Mini or BMW loaner. It's nice not to have to personally drive up there for any service.

Well Mulrey31...I assumed that too...and today my car had it done after throwing a CEL. When they scanned my key it came up with no active recalls, and my car was built after the cut-off for the "affected" vehicles. They took it back and determined this was the issue. Wasn't bad and the dealership got him patched up and ready for me in less then a full day. I will pick him up tomorrow and post if anything feels off. Exeter was built the last week in April and at sea on May 10th.

Here is hoping they did get it fixed by the time your was built...or at least they found the box with the bad parts sitting on the line marked "do not use" that were being used.

p.s. Congrats on your Countryman...beyond this event it has been perfect and I love every chance I get to drive it!

I just got my car back from the dealership yesterday...they had it for 3 days and of course, i forgot to ask them about this issue. They had it a couple of weeks ago as well (for graphics work). Big sigh. I don't even want to call and ask if it was taken care of and whether or not I need to send it back down there. (it's an hour away, so I always use the valet/loaner service)

I know it's premature to assume that it was corrected. But maybe as you said, they took care of it already. That would make sense - but we know we can't ever count on that.

I enjoy my CM as well except for the gas is much worse than I anticipated. I have an S All4 and before that I had a non-S R56...I guess I got spoiled with my first Mini.

I was driving home Tuesday night when out of the blue my cel comes on and MINI Connected Driving Excitement app tells me my engine temp is too high, but the gauge read 32 degrees. When I got home and turned the car off, the fan remained on for longer than normal.
The next day (Wednesday), my cel is still on but the car is running fine. That night we get in the car to head to O'Reiley's and the cel is gone.
Plug it in to the reader and get a p173b code. Temp sensor. Which I replaced when the recall first came out.
Has anyone else had issues with their new sensors? Or experienced this at all?
Thanks.

It could be a faulty sensor, you should take it back to the dealership.

Countryman Temp Sensor Recall

Just called the dealer and my '12 Countryman S (built Apr '12) is also in need of this recall maintenance. It affects many vehicles.

I've just had my second replacement of the sensor - after work Fenton threw a CEL when I started home. I called to set up an appointment while I was driving. After a few miles I had an overtemp flag, pulled off the road, and was towed in. Temp sensor replaced again...
