My daughter's justa was done in 1.5 hrs, mine is going to have to stay a day or two for the exorcism. They're backed up with all the recall cars.

Had my temp sensor recall work done first thing this morning. It only took one hour which surprised me. What are others experiencing regarding work time?

My countryman started with an engine light which led to an engine malfunction. Brought it in, temp sensor was replaced...I guess the recall was recent cuz it was just in last month for maintenance service.

I took mine in last Tuesday for a CEL (again). Turned out to be another fault in the valvetronic system. They found a TSB regarding the problem, and reprogrammed the ECU! They also took care on the temp sensor recall. All told, I was there 6 hours, and they wouldn't give me a loaner! Grrrr. . .

Also, after the ECU reprogram, it does not seem to have as much zip any more!!

BTW, nice looking CM (on the right)

I made the (avoidable) mistake of an appointment to fix the coolant temp sensor on 8/31, the Friday before Labor Day Weekend. You know that was a bad idea.
Fenton went in for an all-day visit. I picked him up late Friday, drove him home, and parked him in the driveway. When I pulled out to do some errands
Saturday morning, I saw some spots on the driveway - more that the one from the A/C. I ran the errands and parked him in another place - instant multiple water spots on the ground. Shut him down, checked the coolant overflow tank - empty.
I waited a bit, opened the tank, started him up, and put 1.5L of coolant in him before something showed up in the tank.
I called the dealer, got my SC, nothing could be done Saturday of Labor Day Weekend - bring him in on Tuesday. Glad I wasn't going somewhere special this weekend.

Sounds like they are rushing to get the recalls done and cutting corners

I thought this recall was for automatics. No recall letter yet.

I had my sensor replaced on the 7th. Left dealership to pick up my son from preschool and loads of steam was started coming out from under the hood. Had to go back to dealership and have it checked. They did not put a clamp on radiator hose tight enough. They fixed it right away but was a pain to have to go back to the dealership. Thankfully I leave very close to a well run dealership.

What sloppy work! Tightening a radiator hose clamp is about as elementary as it gets! Which dealer did this to you?

It was an Illinois dealership. Are we allowed to name them?

That's at least 3 dealers who have done the recall and not checked the system for leaks after working on it. We know of at least one car for which that failure destroyed the engine. I know my dealer has initiated a review of my situation.

Sure, there's no issue. And it will help warn others.

Recalled in Canada

Just got a msg from the dlr today about the recall. Got the 2012MCS in jan and have put on over 18K km and have not noticed any problems - granted i dont use the AC that much, but it still gets up to 40c (105F) in summer.

I do notice a little hesitation on acceleration sometimes. hope this is not a timing chain issue as well.

Has anyone received the recall letter yet? I was at the dealers last week to buy oil so I had the recall done on my car. So far, no issues.

I received a recall notice via email from the dealer where I purchased my Countryman.

I brought my car to a dealer closer to my house and told them of the email and they performed the service for me.

I didn't receive a recall letter. I got a call from the dealer about the recall. When I brought the car in for another issue, they took care of the recall with out any issues.

The coolant temperature sensor "replacement" is NOT A "RECALL". To be defined an official "recall" means a whole bunch of visibility and cost which MINI is loathe to incur. Instead, the "replacement" is being handled as the cars are being encountered. Some proactive dealers may contact you informally (phone, email, text, etc.) but they are not mandated to do this. An official letter from MINIUSA WILL NOT be mailed to you.

So if you don't have a proactive dealer, give them a call and schedule the service to be done. The temperature sensor replacement should be no secret to them; if it is -- then find another dealer immediately!

HTH,
