R60 Front Center Arm rest?
My guess is he's not talking about the Countryman, since his signature says he has an 06. All the other models have an armrest that slides open, and the 1st gen ones do indeed slide open all the time. I ended up adding a piece of material in the rail of mine that helped some. 2nd gen they added some bumps toward the front of the rail to keep the armrest closed.
i just signed papers on a countryman lastnight and i'm excited to get it, hopefully by the weekend ! it didn't have a front center arm rest and nobody there at the time could really answer my question if it could be added in or not so we left it out of the agreement but i really feel i need one. i didn't see an actually answer to the op's question if the factory armrest could be added in later... can it ? how big of a hastle is it and what was the dealer cost ?

Here's link to OEM armrest -> http://mini.sewellparts.com/accessor...2012/4945.html
much appreciated.
It is really nice. Fairly large storage compartment (lots of options possibilities - IE: extra power outlet, storage for GPS,) plus it's decent quality. The price is right vs OEM.
Can you fit several CDs in there? And just to be clear, it can be moved forward or backwards on the rail... So often, depending on how tall someone is and how long their arms are...armrests can be a bit iffy.
I was just telling my Motoring Advisor about this version today and he's interested in learning more about it as well.
P.S. I have a Countryman with the bench seats, want to have room for the "giant" extra cup holder, have the little iPhone/iPod holder that came with the car...so I'm wondering if this arm rest would take up too much room since there is no back rail. Perhaps I will have to call Moss MINI and see what they say... Sorry, just trying to get a clear picture of how this might work in my set up.
P.S.S. I see it's on backorder right now....but maybe the discount still applies.

For those with auto trans the factory armrest is sturdy, adjustable for & aft and tilts up/down to raise in increments for shorter people. it opens and will hold sunglasses, small phones or just a bunch of stuff like napkins, clippers, pocket knives, or even a small Subway sandwich. It's much more rugged than the aftermarket versions. I like mine and I'm 6ft and 260 lbs...
I received my Moss Mini armrest about a week ago. It looks good and made of quality materials; and it can hold waaaay more stuff than factory armrest. However, the mount is absolutely horrible!!! I tried to tighten it up in every way possible (and yes, I used longer/larger screws), but no matter what I did it still shakes from side to side. Need to think about something else, because it already scratched my rail a little bit.
Fabricated new mounts for mine using 16 ga steel (18 ga would work too). Went to a local home improvement center (like Lowe's/Home Depot) and bought a small piece of steel.
Used the stock brackets for the template i.e width and screw hole position. The measurement to the bend is 2 7/8" then for the passinger side the section that goes under the rail is roughly 3/8", driver's side is 1/2". Painted them black and attached some spare fabric to the backside to protect the rail.
Works great and the wobble is gone.

Where could I purchase an armrest with storage? Also, where could I purchase leatherette seat covers for the rear seats? I am new to the "mini" world.. I bought a 2014 countryman and it is currently ordered and I am very excited. I couldn't remember if it has an armrest or not.

Armrest oddities?
I have a 2012 Countryman with auto trans. The armrest puzzles me.
1. The top slides back and forth with no discernible purpose.
2. The armrest top is several inched thick but appears to be empty. Is there a way to use that space?
3. I wish the armrest were deep enough to hold CDs. I finally ordered the tissue dispenser and removed the top. I installed it behind the armrest and it now holds CDs and other things I can't fit.
