I guess I'll see how it goes once we have the car. If it seems like a pain not to have one we can get the aftermarket one - or I guess buy one from the factory.

Just wondering - is this something one could install themselves?

Wow, that looks nice. And the extra storage is a bonus. But what does "adjustable" mean? We have the factory unit, and I like that you can adjust the height. Does the Mossmini unit have a height adjustment, or does it slide fore and aft in the center rail? (or exactly what is "adjustable".)

I just took a look at our CM in the garage, and noticed only now that the factory armrest appears to be mounted in the center rail. Given that, I'm surprised it does not adjust fore and aft. I don't see a release lever nor button to do that, and there's no mention of a fore and aft adjustment in the owner's manual. If someone has figured it out, I think this would certainly qualify for the "things you didn't know about your CM" thread

I love it, couldn't imagine not having it. My car is a manual, and it does make getting to the sunglasses holder tricky, but it can be flipped out of the way for that.

Moss Mini's armrest slides on the rails, then the top of the armrest slides forward & aft. There's a video on youtube from woodcompany.com showing it. (That's who makes the one Moss Mini is selling)

Very nice. So you can fit to a MC that had an armrest, correct? There are no unsightly areas left over or that show up if you take out the factory one and put this one in instead are there? This is probably what MINI should have done in the first place as I dislike that you can't even carry a CD in the OEM one.

Only $130.00 That's WAY less then the Mini one. I'll have to watch the video and see if it would work for me.

I went back out in the garage to have a look, and unless I'm missing something it's just not at all obvious how you would remove the factory armrest.

Is anyone thinking of purchasing the wood company version? I didn't get an armrest originally and would love to hear reviews if anyone has this.

Yes you can buy it as aftermarket (pricey)....... it does cramp the phone cradle..... Swings up and out of the way though so you just need to be creative when using accessories with it. if your rail is continuous you can attach stuff behind it.

Please keep us posted - it looks as though it will be worth buying. Can't wait to hear your reactions.

My armrest from Moss Mini finally arrived, it's a pretty nice little unit.

To answer a few questions - #1) the top (padded part) adjusts about 2-3 inches forward. #2) the bottom is not moveable unless you loosen 3 small screws on drivers side of mount and it's limited to travel because of E brake - *Note of caution these 3 screws are very small and strip easily - I had to use longer screws just to tighten to rail.

I also tried it on rear rail and works out pretty good there also. Might be a pain if you drop rear seats often.(Pics attached)

I like it but wish I could get rid of the e-brake handle. I wish someone would come out with a aftermarket replacement!!!! The armrest adds a tiny bit of storage (which is nice because there really isn't much elsewhere), a good place to put your arm on long trips (esp with an auto) and can be moved out of the way. Overall I'm happy with it but REALLY not happy with the e-brake placement at all. Think that was a real bad design and takes up some valuable rail space.

Thanks for the update. Did you have the factory armrest before this one? If so, what was the removal process? Are these available in the light beige color?

How ironic, while reading this post the one I ordered this past Wednesday was delivered at my door by UPS. So now I'm off to install it. Couldn't resist ordering it while the 15% off is going on.

Just installed mine and like Mical stated you are going to want to use longer screws than the ones provided to install it. The ones provided do not provide enough bite for the bracket to grab the rail.
Overall a good product. Seriously considering getting one for the back seat.

So where are the screws going to? Under the rail or are you kind of screwing into the rail? Is it pretty sturdy?

The armrest is held in place by an L shape bracket on either side. The screws go through 3 holes in the top of the bracket and into the wood base of the armrest. Then the brackets tighten onto the rail with the base of the L grabbing the outside of the rail.
FYI I also placed a small amount of fabric under the armrest and between the brackets so as to protect the rail from scratches.
