A suggestion would be to record the temperature and other weather conditions during the run. Wind speed could be a factor, and it is probably getting warmer.
Yes, 70 miles very straight interstate, very slight elevation change from about 150 feet above sea level to about 750 feet. 93 octane at the same Exxon station everyday. 10% ethanol. Haven't had any noticable wind yet. It's about 65 degrees each morning. If I ever have to take the car off cruise control I scrap it and do it again the next day. Also, this is what the computer says, not the pump.

I commute around 60 miles each day on the highway, and I've been running the same kind of experiment, albeit less strictly. My results are very similar. The gas mileage seems to be really high at around 68 (32+ mpg) and to drop off slowly as you raise speed to 75ish (30ish mpg), and then to drop off hard after that.

I use CC all the time on the highway since I'm a teacher and I tend to commute to work a lot earlier than most folks.

Update: 62mph is 35.1mpg. So that's a decrease from 66mph which is the highest so far. The 62mph was in 6th but I guess the rpms are just too low below the power curve.

Good to know..... better mpg if you drive below 65mph? Maybe that explains why my mpg averages 26. I drive between 70-75 mph and sometimes a little higher when I am on the highway.

You may need to be a little older than most to remember the first 'fuel crisis'. The White House decided that the best way to conserve fuel was to impose a national speed limit of 55 mph. Feel free to research the results of that social experiment. I was obligated to make a 1600 mile round trip during that time, I felt like Charlie on the MTA .

I blame my CMS All4 for making it fun and easy to go that speed .... :O) Before I got my new ride I drove a Toyota Tacoma and believe you me, I drove average 65-70. Now when I drive, I don't even realize how fast I am going at all. It has great pick up and darts around like no other business.

I bought the Marshall gages that match the stock MINI gages. They include from top left; boost/vacuum, oil temperature. Lower left; water temperature, oil pressure.

I have a BSH oil catch can with the dual boost port, blocking off the passenger side PCV hose. I get my boost/vacuum signal from the dual boost port.
