I do have the cold weather package with defroster. But I don't think there are any heating elements in the windshield. It just blows hot air up from the dash.

Maybe you just have a bad set of wipers or they are poorly adjusted.
I think the cold weather package always includes the heated windsheild system. The elements are very fine wires (practically invisible unless viewed at a certain angle & light level) within the glass layers. You must switch these on with the dedicated push button on the center console (a "curved window" icon, not the "square window" icon that turns on the read window heater).

Could be dirt or sand particles lodged in the nozzles. Try clearing them with a needle. Has happened to me in the past on other cars.

Also, do you have a washer fluid rated to -35 Celcius?

Well I do have the curved dedicated push button for the front defroster and another for the back window. The heating element for the back is plainly visible but I never noticed any element in the front.

Now, I'll have to check next time I use the CM.

Trick from the old days - those under 20 may not remember. When you put your front defroster on, put the sun visors down. This holds the warm air on the windshield a little longer.

That's a New England'er thing as well ... know a lot of people as well as myself that does so. When I start my car in the AM to warm it up, I put them down and damn what a difference it makes.
