headlight question

I've had my car a few weeks now. When I picked it up and got the "orientation" my MA said just leave the headlights on all the time and they will turn off when you open the driver's door. This was how they acted up until yesterday when they started turning off when I turned the engine off.

Either is OK, but the change is bugging me since I didn't play with any of the settings using the turn signal stalk thing.

I don't have comfort access if that makes a difference or adaptive xenons. How are the supposed to behave?

Did you use the second set of keys yesterday?

No, same key fob. I'm the only one to drive it and I only use the one fob. The only thing different was over the weekend I was at a dog sport event. I had my dog in his crate in the car between competitions, and had the hatch open all day. Periodically opening doors. That cargo light stays on a long time as well as the Park indicator every time I open a door, and I was worried about the tiny battery, but it started just fine at the end of each day.
