Clicking sound when opening driver's door

During the past couple of days, the driver's door has a loud clicking sound when opening. I can feel a sensation when holding on to the handle. The sound is coming from the hinging mechanism just below the upper main door hinge. I have no idea what it is, but it sounds and feels alarming.

If you are trying to get to Kansas, it may be your heels, Dorothy. Just put Toto in the back and motor on.

Otherwise, may be the door hold detent. Check it for looseness or try some spray lubricant. May have to get close to hear where exctly it is coming from. Step two, as always, is back to the dealership. They don't know what they've done wrong unless enough people come in to tell them.

Good luck!

Update:

After a trip to the dealer, the issue looks like the cause was that the bolt holding the hinge to the door body needed to be tightened. Big relief. I was envisioning a two week delay while parts were ordered from Germany.

Nice that it wasn't anything major. On the other hand, how did it get out of Quality Control with a loose hinge? I wonder what else they did not tighten.
