How do you know??????

I do my best to avoid pot holes... And I've done a great job of it
But with these run flats still on the car, I hit one today.
It wasn't at a high speed, was turning into a parking lot, and it just caught me by surprise and WHAM! It one was a solid hit.... Was a narrow deep hole that caught me on the turn....

So I guess my question is, how do you know if this did damage to the suspension???? I've hit exactly three like this since I've bought the car in May... The kind where it seems that everything that could absorb anything was compressed as far as it could go....

Guess getting an alignment would be a for sure way to find out.
Am I over-reacting? Or would this kind of thing demolish a suspension?

These RF tires are going.... Absolute garbage tires!!!!!!

You will not know unless you get a full inspection at the dealer.

If your MINI pulls right or left or has new vibrations, the potential is you damaged something.

After our 2700 mile Montana trip and a few bad roads, I had our CM aligned just to be sure when we got back home.

We had some deep pot-holes and some nasty road construction along the way, so I felt better with some preventative action on our CM ALL4.

If you have no noise or vibration, and she still tracks straight on the highway, you probably didn't damage anything.

I have hit a hole with a non runflat which jarred the fillings from my teeth. Sounded like the bump stops were struck. Sustained a minor ding to the wheel lip. I also have an M7 USB so my towers are not mushroomed either.

But I always wondered that maybe the wheel would have survived better had I been using runflats which have a more rigid side wall to absorb the strike....

In the end, no alignment or suspension damge done......

A few weeks back a six wheeler swerved into my lane and I had to make a quick dash way off to the right to avoid him/her? Missed the truck but ended up onto the concrete curbing.Probably only traveling 15mph but sliced the outside of the front passenger tire and marred up the new Nuespeed 19" wheel. Other than the aesthetics, wheel/tire held up and lost no air and no fault from the TPMS. Ended up ordering another wheel, continental tire and sensor as I drive enough extended distances without a spare...so better have 4 good ones. Will you the bruised one as a 5th/spare. Other than a pretty good jolt...all seems fine. Not sure I would of came out with the same outcome were the run flats still onboard.

I hit a curb while entering my work site's underground garage. Scratched up the RF pretty good, but the car still tracked acceptably. When I got a runflat flat, I went in to have it fixed. The tire place saw uneven ware on all four tires and recommended an alignment. We found all wheels were substantially off; not just the one that hit the curb. Driving about California freeways can be problematic. They have some good sized cracks that in time can play havoc with the way things should perform. So, even from the factory these cars can be out of alignment. Suggest getting checked often.

Its good to know that I'm not the only one... Well if I was, you guys would have been saved the grief... So ok have to schedule so the tires arrive when I'm home... Trip planned and all...

Now would any run flat fans actually buy used run flats? Is it really cost effective for someone to do that? 3500 miles on them...if they go to 12k miles then need to be replaced....???? We're talking about 25% life gone on the tire....

I've never sold used tires before... Heck I've never bought used tires before...

Lots of bargain hunters buy take-offs. Ours had 2,600 miles on them when Discount Tire took them in trade. DT will meet anyone's price - no point ordering your tires online. DT even offered to buy the 4 year old Toyo H/T's on my truck with 33,000 miles on them. Think I will take them up on that next Spring to get the Michelin LTX M/S2 I have my eye on for the truck.

there are videos on you tube explaining damage mini suspension, but its on a standard mini. the suspension has little travel and appears to dome the body where the shocks attach at the top. the damage can be seen when you open the hood. the you tube video's are great.
