I think it should also be pointed out that as you start to stiffen your suspension more and more that you get a much harsher ride and bumps can throw you offline much easier. Think of this car and soft billowy care you may have driven in the past like a large cadillac or something made to take road imperfections and keep you in "comfort".

You will find as you drive your MINI how well you tend to feel the road even in its most basic suspension setup. It is a bit disconcerting if you aren't used to it. Scared my wife, especially after I upgraded my suspension.

If you ever decide to switch to coils check out http://thesuspensionsource.mybigcommerce.com/index.php Just purchased some coils and am stoked on them ! Any way stoked your 110$ springs are working good

Point conceded for RWD on road racing circuits with sweepers . However, about 80% of my racing has been on tight Autox courses where I find FWD more desirable (though the old mid-engine MR2s were a treat to drive, too!).

And, surfwagon's point about the stiffer side-walled run-flats is spot-on. Its been so long since I've driven on run-flats, I forgot how horrible they can be over rough roads. Oh well, I'll have to get used to them for a while since my CM order included run-flats.

So I know the suspension components have been dominating this topic, but maybe we could get a list going? Maybe get this stickied for those of us waiting on our order and those that have the "mod fever" lol.

Here's my list of "to-do's"...

1. Have my MA swap carpet for rubber floor mats.
2. Sunshade (Heat shield is looking like best quality).
3. Window tint (FormulaOne is my preference)
4. Install my mudflaps.
5. Cold air Intake (NM engineering is my pick).
6. VIP's strut brace.
7. Speedbooster (pending a few more reviews).
8. Find a DIY to blackout my headlight housings.

Have a strut brace ordered but not received, so no data yet.

Have done a stubby from Outmotoring, bulb (de-yolked) updates, blinky third brake light (also Outmotoring) ~ Very cool!.

The one upgrade that I have noticed a change from, is a K&N air filter. I don't have cold-hard-facts (HP gains, mileage, etc --- yet) but it does seem to have picked up a little extra "zip" with the switch out.

** There are quite a few other air filter options, but I went K&N and am very happy so far. (I had one in my previous car, so from that I also had the cleaning/re-oiling products).

This is on my list too.

I've found a place in the UK that will spray up the current part.

However I'd prefer to get hold of the black inserts from the 2012 spec.

That way I can easily change back if the mood takes me or if it doesn't look right.

Anyone had any luck sourcing this part yet.

Cheers

Are you talking about a bumper protector for the boot opening? Check this post. Just be aware that all of who ordered are still waiting.

So did I (back ordered right now)but canceled after reading this thread. Kinda pointless to do a strut bar before the tires, and sways. Speaking of which, when is someone going to release sway bars?

I wonder if there is one from another vehicle that could work with possibly some light dremel work.

Or just get one of these

I know a few bars in town where people sway.

I put on one for a Toyota Matrix - 2011. Cost $70 from the dealer. The curve comes very close to the curve of the bumper. Have a couple of pics but I'm too stupid to figure out how to attach them. Sorry.

Hey Sealy, thank you for the post link, I had thought someone asked this before, but for some reason I couldn't find it. Too bad orders are not moving, it looks good.

JonB, I do like the sounds of just retro fitting another. Let me know if you get a pic posted someplace.

Great write up.

Thanks. I know what I'm getting next..

I'm one of those who ordered a rear sill protector from the US -> UK source and I'm standing by for delivery real soon now.

I hope I'm really close to getting an under-engine shield for my CM4 from Detroit Tuning - they've supposedly made a production run and are setting up shipping.

No <snif> , Fenton is still in the MINI hospital. He's supposed to be out next week, but I haven't gotten confirmation of that this week (silence from the repair place is rarely good). I'm hoping they restore his right front end and I'll be back to 4-wheeling real soon now.

I've gone through Corolla, Elantra, and Altima rental cars so far <yawn>.

i put a Sprintbooster in too, makes a big difference in response "feel". Ive read numerous threads where people suggest that pushing further down on the pedal will give you the same effect and i have to disagree with that. I was skeptical but willing to try it, really improves the pickup and enhances the fun of driving my cms. just my .02

What is the difference between this and just using the Sport button in throttle response?

I ordered one the other day. They said they are about to place the order and thought it would be about 3 weeks.

The sport button does seem to make things more responsive, but the throttle is still lagging quite a lot (hit the sport button, punch the gas, sit and wait). With the sport button and the sprintbooster, the "sit and wait" time decreases and fun begins a lot sooner.
