Mudflaps?

Anyone have a lead on real mudflaps for a CM? The Service Manager at my dealership does not recommend the ones he thinks MINI is going to offers. Thinks they are too small to do the job of keeping spray/mud off the CMs flanks.

Dunno if this thread helps at all, but perhaps some of the posters would be willing to give you an idea of how the dealer ones perform in the real world:

I bought without and then added the MINI ones. Made a big difference and I think it makes the rear end look a little better. I won't go into good looking rear ends, but you get my point.

Can't tell you about alternatives, but can say that the OEM ones do a good job for typical road duty. My gallery doesn't show the rears (have to update that as they came a little later) but I can say it does cut down on the crud on the side of the car and the rear bumper.

However, if your driving off road and mud bogging...

I'm happy with the MINI flaps... Bought front and rear from Prestige on eBay and they were only $90-something, well worth the small investment. If you're handy with a socket wrench (and possibly a drill) you can install it yourself and save on the ridiculous dealer labor charges.

Hobie44610 posted an excellent photo-documented installation:

Note that you don't *have* to take off the tires if you don't want to, but if you're not using right angle tools, it'll be difficult to get a good work angle inside the wheel wells.
