Mudflaps $100. Each!

Hi from SoCal. Eagerly awaiting my '09 MCS, 100% Pure Silver with most options except Nav -- or mudflaps. I decided I wanted mudflaps to be put on when the car arrives at the dealer late next week (due in to California on the Tristan, 12/4).

When I emailed the dealer to ask how much they would cost, they quoted me a price of $395! In the configurator, they're all of $62. So I called the service department and was told that "that's what the book says we charge for mudflaps, including installation." Which must take all of 30 minutes, and that's if the tech takes a coffee break during the job.

This is not making me feel good about my dealer -- and I haven't even gotten the car yet!

How much have you paid for mudflaps at your dealership? Oh, and do you guys think I ought to even bother with them? Also, do the shorty antennas (antennae?) harm radio reception at all? I'm thinking of replacing the stock lance of an antenna with an Ultrick shorty.

Thanks!

You might find these to be a reasonable option:

A heck of a lot cheaper than the dealer option, and just as good looking. As I recall from reading related posts, the installation is fairly straightforward.

I haven't seen much evidence that the shorty antennas improve or hurt radio reception. Almost everyone who gets one does it for the aesthetics.

I just got 2 sets from my dealer and they were $25 for the front and $36 for the rear. They wanted $100 to install per Mini. I installed them myself in about an hour. Straight forward install. Just need to turn the front wheels and remove the rear wheels to get clear access.
