wheels

Hello: I am new to this site and a new owner of a 2009 Mini S; we purchased the car about 3 weeks ago. I am averaging 31mpg on the 1st tank. I feel my driving has been moderate, not too aggressive, but thought I would get better mileage. What are you seeing?

I am getting in the mid 20's. But my commute is 3.3 miles each way with 13 stop lights in that 3.3 miles. So lots of stop and go. in a couple weeks I will be doing a long road trip so will see what kind of freeway mileage i can get then.

Welcome to NAM.

You get better mileage than I do. What you're getting is pretty good. As your engine breaks in and gets a little looser, your mileage should improve a little.

Your not happy with 31mpg! I have my car less than a week and 350 miles. My average thus far is 26 even. I was hoping for better than that. Maybe it will go up a little more after it breaks in.

Just a heads up. They say that short trips that dont let the oil get up to operating temps takes its toll on an engine. The oil needs to get hot enough to burn off accumulated moisture and comtaminents.

Don't worry, I don't do just my commute. If I did my mileage would be about 18 mpg.

My 08mcs manual got 33.5mpg on the first tank and has been getting 34-35 ever since. This is on my commute which is 70% freeway and 30% surface streets.

I just started on my fourth tank in my 09MCC. I'm averaging around 35 I would guess, but my daily commute is 25 miles each way with about half on the Interstate. I haven't gotten a really good feel for what it would be for city driving except for the errands I've run here and there, but that's just mixing in with my overall average so far.

I've had my '09 automatic for 4 weeks. I drive between 20-50 mils each day (depends on work locatin for the day) and most of it is in street driving--some highway, but with trafffic it might as well be street driving.

According to the computer I am getting just over 38 mpg, but when I do the actual math, I am getting 36mpg. I think my spedometor is off a few m/h that is causing the difference. I drive fairly conservative most of the time, and still have lots of fun every day. Couldn't be happier.

Wheels for Mini Cooper S model 2009 and earlier

I Just installed a new set of wheels from the TR. It is a new brand called Elbrus. I think they look very nice. They were under $100 each, including centering rings, and center caps, and used the stock lug nuts. They are machined faces with silver painted background with an Ice coat overall. They are available in 16 and 17 inch X 7.5.
