How about folks in Canada? What kind of 'discount' have you been getting and where did you purchase?

In ottawa, we only have one mini dealer so the choice are limited. However, I don't mind driving to Toronto area or Montreal area.

I bought my CM at Mini Laval in Quebec on the 24th January. I got the convenience package for free, but primarily because the salesperson thought an element of them was standard on the car, when he discovred they weren't he gave me the package! I really can't comlpain

We also do not have any other dealerships to choose from. Perhpas as time goes by there wil be incentives, but as long as they are selling well I cannot imagine there will be much wiggle room.

I tried browsing the entire thread to see if this question was already answered first, did anyone take a USAA or Penfed, or Costco price to a dealership for a price match?? I keep my MINIs only as long as the maintenance lasts, then I have traded up to a better one. This will be number 4 this year. Have always bought at same dealer. The price for what I want is attractive at zag.com. thanks in advance

I broached the subject with my dealer - they alluded to things like "it's not required that we give loaners; it's our choice" and "we might have much more discretion re covering issues for a customer who bought a car from us at our price".

Perhaps a bit ugly, but as a business person, I understand their position. I just paid list, got a little discount off the Tire/Wheel package and extended maintenance, and called it a deal!

I will let you know in a couple of weeks, when my Countryman arrives. My dealer knows I'm looking at non-dealer loan options. I paid MSRP with no perks, so I figured this was the only way to save a few bucks. The dealer had originally me over 4%. My bank was 3.4%, Capital One was around 3.18%, and PenFed was 2.49%. It's interesting to hear about the fair number of people who get some sort of discount or perk. I got nothing of the sort. My dealer told point blank that "everyone pays MRSP."

My reply to him would have been "not everyone"; but then again I live in So Cal and we have 9 dealers to select from or 11 if you count the 2 in San Diego. Those that ordered before the first cars ever hit the lots did not have much of a chance; I guess that’s the price you pay to be the first. I was at my local dealer in Ontario and they had about 6 ‘S’ models and 1 base out front along with another 'S' in the showroom. Don't know if they had any others in the back. They are a very small dealer compared to some others like Alexander or Crevier; I’m starting to see more inventory on their lots also. As the inventory swells the price will come down.

I must agree with itsmeagain, it all depends on the market. I live in northern NJ and have several dealers in the area so there's some competition. The initial offer from every dealer I met with was below MSRP. On the other hand, if you live in Seattle it seems there are only 2 dealers and both are owned by the same group, so no competition and no discounts off MSRP. In fact, in Seattle the word is that they're charging a premium above MSRP. So perhaps you should be glad you're not buying in Seattle.

Where & when did you shop?

I got $1,250 off MSRP plus Sports Strips, the Roof Rack Base and floor mats for $0 from Westchester Mini. Prestige, Manhattan and Morristown all came in with offers in that neigborhood but not quite as good. Well, Prestige pretended and then pulled the old, "oh, you want an engine in it...that's extra."

Yea and I got $800 off MSRP, plus my last months lease payment (almost $300) from Princeton, so that covers almost every dealership in Jersey besides Monmouth, and South Jersey.

I'm in Northern Cali...has anyone heard of the Rock the Rivals event at Mini of Concord? It's on 5/15 and apparently they'll be giving $1000 off any MINI to anyone who registers the day of the event.

My Countryman is already ordered and supposed to be here this week....am I cuckoo to ask if I could get a deal like that now...a month before the event?

Doesn't hurt to ask....the worst they can say is no. That being said there is no way in heck they will.

In Seattle you have a disadvantage on price negotiations. (Fact)
It rains a lot here. (Fact)
Driving a MINI in rainy Seattle is a blast! (Best fact of all!!!)
Got a permanent grin behind the wheel still...

I live in Wisconsin, only 3 dealers state wide. No discounts on Countryman, especially if custom ordered. MRSP is the price you pay.

Just ordered my CM ALL4 today from Seattle MINI. How do you like dealing with them? I'm relocating from NYC to Seattle for military this summer so had to order it over the phone since I won't be in Seattle till after the May production slot I was able to secure (they had only 1 left). Should be ready around 7/10. I didn't get a discount on MSRP but did manage to get the $795 dealer prep fee waived so I avoided that nonsense. They seem easy to deal with. A little stressful ordering 3000 miles away but I'm excited. Was able to test drive one and play around with it in the city so it's not sight unseen. Def looking to get a good deal on the loan through Navy Federal or USAA and save more money that way as well as pay it off early.

Nice that you got the prep fee waved. I got it reduced, but not quite eliminated. They were very easy to deal with. They didn't push any extras on me at signing. The MA that I worked with (Jay) was always very quick to respond to phone calls or e-mails. Usually responding within a couple hours.
No complaints.

You, Sir, have exceptional taste.

But I'm jealous that yours is here and mine is not yet. Pics?

Cheers,
Tad

PS- More to the point; MSRP, Rasmussen in Oregon.

Mini of Madison was offering $1,000 off in stock Countrymans when we bought ours earlier in the year. I don't know if they are still offering this. We were very pleased with the service we received from MA Sean at Mini of Madison.

I have found Sean to be very helpful as well. I've tried hard not to be too pesky for updates as I wait for Sadie to arrive.

Right now it depends on the region of the country you are in.
If you live in an area with quite a few dealers you may luck out and get 1%-3% off the price.
Areas like the Pacific Northwest have been seeing pretty much nothing other than maybe a waived dealer prep fee.

If you have access to pentagon federal credit union of navy credit union - Last I saw they had 2.49% for up to 60 months and 1.99% also up to 60 months respectively.
