Anyone know if the Countryman with Nav package has the USB port in the Glovebox? Also is this port powered? I am thinking about connecting my MiFi in the glovebox to be powered off the Nav USB update interface so that my Countryman has wifi for my old iPhone 3G to work with Connected (I use a Droid now for my phone).

No it does not, but the MA told me I can get a adapter for it. ( aux input ?) My itouch works with the cable that came with the CM and connects to the center rail.

Your 3G should work fine with Connected. Just DL the MINI Connected app from the App store.

I wanted WiFi for my iPhone to get Google Search and Pandora. I guess I'll have to settle with charging off the backseat cigarette lighter adapter

Yes, there is a USB port in the glovebox. However, it is only usable for the installation of system software updates. I plugged in a USB stick with MP3 files and the Connected system did not acknowledge it. Same stick in USB port in center console worked fine. Did not test to see if the port was powered or not.
EDIT: I see that already know this. Sorry for being redundant.

Reason: Clarity

Sorry. Should have read the preceding post more carefully.

Reason: Misunderstood question.

Does the Y-connector the iPhone on the center rail charge the iPhone?

Do you think you check if it's powered(you can probably use a ipod with usb connection or cellphone charger with usb connection)? I don't care about the connectivity part I'll use the center rail, but If I can power and hide my MiFi that would be awesome. My car would then be a mobile WiFi hotspot.

I wonder if Verizon iphone 4 owners will be able to use their hotspot functionality while charging and using mini-connected?

That would be cool to have a mobile hotspot. However, I understand that Verizon will charge $20 a month extra (and then for only 2GB of data) for this functionality on the iPhone.

I assume you can't have your iPhone in a case and get it to fit in the adapter?
Large cases the answer is probably yes. I have a really slim case on an iphone 4 right now and I am eager to see if it will work with that.....just missing a Countryman and an adapter at the moment.
I wonder why the dealer near me doesn't have this in stock then? I think other dealers don't have it either...at least judging by responses on here.
I checked for the iphone 4 adapter at my local dealer yesterday and was told it wasnt available yet. But I also called ASK MINI in Jan and they told Germany would get them first and then the States. So its probably in transit.

The iPhone 3G snap-in adapters wouldn't work with ANY covers or cases so I have no reason to believe the iPhone 4 snap-in will either.
To be honest, unless you're suing your iPhone as you ONLY music storage device I wouldn't bother. Hell, even then I wouldn't. The only times I ever left my phone in my car were when I used my snap-in adapter. Out of sight, out of mind. It is nice to be able to charge the phone without using a power port or the iPod cable (if you have an iPod plugged in, of course), but that's really all it does since iPhones have no external antenna connector (so the roof antenna does NOTHING for reception) and everything else is connected over BT.

It's in Tischer's system so they may have it in stock. They're good like that. You can always call them up and ask.
Anyone know, or even tried using mods4cars video bypass? I have one that was to go in my M3 but not having a Mini yet I don't have anything to try it on. I'd imagine that it would work as long as Mini uses the same quadlock connector BMW does.
