Using the "plugin" option under Mini connect, I get all of the artwork with no delay, even artwork that I did not get when accessing the iPhone vie the External Devices option. You do not need to have the mini connected app running to get the plugin option - just hook up an iPhone or iPod.

 

There is a script for iTunes (I don't remember the name now but google it) that embeds the cover art in the song file. If these are MP3s you've burned from CDs, that cover art just gets linked. Try embedding the art using that script in the songs you are having trouble with and see if that helps. I had to use this to get cover art to show on my Blackberry when I had it for non iTunes Music Store purchases.

 

For Bluetooth pairing,

When I search http://www.mini.com/connectivity/ Compatibility check, I only see Blackberry Tour and Storm listed

I have a Blackberry Curve 8530 - Will this pair?

I do not see a cradle adapter available for the Curve, will Mini offer this in the future?

It seems like they really do need to cleanup the connected/radio app - Lots of good features but actually to many choices and redundancy - It feels like two groups developed the applications and they failed to have a system guy pull it all together - Oh well I got a feedback form in the mail so will see if I can at least get comments to MINI on this

 

I can't get to the music on my iPhone through the plugin option under the Mini Connected menu. All I get on that menu is a message like "plugin is ready". I can get to music via the external deceives option. How do you get to music via the plugin option?

 

You have to make sure Mini Connected is the active app on your iPhone.

 

Does the plug in option only work with the Mini/BMW USB/video Y cable? My iPhone 4 does not charge with that cable so I have been using the white Apple USB cable for my connection.

Yes..Iv'e been using the same cord as well...more places to keep the I phone,
but you do loose some of the functions in the Mini Connected area. The Y connector that came with the vehicle should be charging as well for you.

 

@RS11 - Try clicking the **** down when it says "Plugin is Ready".

As for the resolution, I think it might be a setting in the phone that we probably can't access/change. The mini connected screen can obviously handle a pretty high resolution. I'm just surprised that the iPhone doesn't output at higher resolution, since it can output highdef video to a TV through an optional HDMI attachment.

 

My iPhone just doesn't connect with the supplied Y connector. My iTouch will connnect so it's not the cable. Any suggestions? The Mini Connected app "test" function reads unable to establish connection with device.

 

Is your iPhone jailbroken? that has caused some problems for other users.
Other than that, I'm not sure. Maybe make sure that you have the latest version of the software. I don't think that will make a difference, though, because I was running it first version of OS4 and the first version of Connected (without facebook) for the first week that I had the car.

 

Nope. Not a jailbroken phone. I have the latest version of Connected as well as OS4.3. I'm not sure either...will mess around again with it tonight.

 

Stopped over to see my MA at the dealership..I'm refinishing (Powder Coating) his aluminum wheels for a BMW...so I stopped by the parts department..and the cradle for the IPhone 4 is available !!..I ordered it..$165. and I'll see it Monday..no later than Tuesday So check with MA's or even better parts department because...there available.

 

To use the cradle - will you run the same cable that you use today into the armrest? Or is the armrest prewired in some fashion, such that when you put the cradle in it and then the phone in the cradle, all is connected?

It's all prewired...not sure what that option was..6NE & 6NM I believe.

New Country Mini..Hartford, Ct 860-522-6134 There only showing 1 part #.
I have seen a few posts on here describing 3 different part #'s..But for the I Phone 4..there is only one. I should have it Monday ..no later than Tuesday and I'll post which it is...and hopefully all it can do

 

I tried ordering the cradle using one of the part numbers previously posted and got a call from my mini parts department today telling me that it was the wrong part number and that they are changing the order to the correct one for $165. I was told it should be in by end of next week.

 

Hmm. Is this the iphone4 cradle that Ryanzak already reported having that DIDN'T work? Maybe cross reference with him/her to see.

 

Well the $165. Price is what I was charged...so must be the same part.
It sure sounded from the parts guys that the different part #'s were more for the type of phone and not what it does. They actually ordered the part using my vin # which would indicate what type of features I ordered in regards to the connectivity. They said there were 1500 allocated for the US and 50 where in the local depot...wherever that is. Either way I should have it Monday.

 

Fantastic that you got your hands on one, even to just see if it works. So, thanks for posting the info. Fingers crossed that it IS the right one. Can't wait for you to get it on Monday

 

Days like this.... Did the cradle end up working for connected? If so can you confirm the part number? You're in my hometown! Cool, Mini of Murray treating you right?

 

Copied this from a previous post:Ok.... Just picked up the I phone 4 cradle that I ordered off the Mini Accessories site from the dealership. Unlike the three BMW #'s that have been listed here. This Mini part # is 84-10-9-164-123 ... When ordered from the site stated we needed options 6NF & 6NE. Box even states music after the number. So I was thinking this was equal to the BMW # ending 391. I recently ordered and then returned the basic #389. Well this was no better than the first one I returned. It charges but would not even play the Bluetooth or I should say it did and the screen showed the songs.. No artwork but also nooooo sound, no music at all. Pop it out of the cradle and all was fine. Actually this cradle did not look as sturdy and the phone seemed to be a bit tight. Not as nice of a fit with the 389. So that's it for me....I'll return this one and just have to wait for the right one...whenever and which ever one that is. Looking forward to any others that thought they might of stumbled onto the correct one!

 

Sorry Flyer. Didn't see this until today. No, I never got it, I'm in the same boat as everyone else. It really is pathetic that they can't get this together.
