armrest removal?

so, how hard do we think it will be to remove the armrest, should it turn out to be as annoying as it seems it will be (perpetually in the way of the handbrake, PITA to open and plug my phone in all the time, etc.)

and with MINI Connected, do we think that cable is removable?

I'm going to look into it, but I'm also going to look at whether a regular mini e-brake could be fitted into the countryman. The one that's in it is stupid to put it nicely. Way over thought.

How is the front rail supposed to be used when the armrest and the emergency brake intrude so much over top of the rail?
