Revving it up from Atlanta

Hello everyone, I placed my order for a Lightning Blue MCS with black roof & bonnet stripes and should be getting it sometime in late May. I was actually looking at a G35 but happened to drop by a Mini dealer and BOY!, was I in for a surprise! The 6spd MCS goes like a *beep* and accelerates like a scalded cat..waayy better than most other cars in the $20-30k range. Anyhow, I tried to get the best stock performance for the money and thus my primary options were limited to LSD, sport suspension, VDC along with a few fun things like the sunroof and a piano black dash.

I guess I'll miss this year's MOTD. :( In any case, you guys can catch me at the SSCC event next month.

Naturally, as a newbie, I have a couple of questions:
1. Is the hill assist feature really useful? I mean, I usually manage to get the car going with minimal rollback.
2. Besides tint, are there any cheap/low-cost mods or options available? I'm just getting out of grad school and don't wanna blow my entire savings on a car.
3. Is there an Atlanta club on NAM?

I guess that's it for now!

Cheers,
Zane

Welcome to NAM gforce23!!! Beware the "Mod Bug", if infected there is no known cure. I live in central Ga. and the Mini group in Atlanta is always doing something. Happy motoring!!!

Thanks, Mrs. Skurvy! The wait is KILLING me! Is there a way to bombard the Mini factory guys and ask them to hurry up?

You could fly over and pick it up from the factory, but the drive back is REALLY wet. I suppose you could get a running start somewhere in central Europe, zip down the Chunnel and use the cliffs of Dover as a ramp, but the speeds neccessary would definitely exceed the break-in limits

You should stop by our pre-Dragon meeting this weekend and meet the gang. The details are on our website.

The '07s don't have a lot of mods yet, so you have a few months to save up before the mod infection takes over your life. The first mod I got was sunglasses. You'll be smiling so much when driving that you'll end up blinding yourself with the reflected glare

Im from Atlanta and have an '07, unfortunately Terry is correct. Some of the most common mods are new rims/tires, exhaust, intake, brakes and springs. But, thats plenty enough to keep you busy for a little while at least Good luck with the wait, it was torture while I was waiting but was worth it once she arrived!
