Well I finally did it.

Hello all,
I have been looking at MINI's for a few weeks now. Lurking on the boards and listening to what people have to say, good bad or otherwise. Well tonight I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 04' Indi Blue and Black S with NAV. It's not perfect, a few scratches here and there, but hey who is. Anyway just wanted to say hello. No pics until I get time to detail it myself. The dealers detail job leaves a lot to be desired! I'm no pro, but even I can get wax of plastics.

Welcome to NAM!! It sounds as if you are already infected by the detail bug, but beware of the "MOD BUG"!!! Once it bites you ther is no known cure.

Yes, very normal. And it's normal to go out to the garage before you go to bed to just look at. I will have had my MCS a year this weekend and I still can't stop smiling whenever I look at it or drive it. My wife is the same way with her PW MC. Enjoy!

There are those who've been afflicted with "The Grin" since 2002. I had a short case of it then after several test drives, but bought a Mazdaspeed Protege instead. That was only a partial cure (MPS's do induce grins, but they're not as big).

Since my '06 MCS, I believe the situation has become permanent.

Beware the mod bug. Do NOT click on this link:

Welcome to the MINI cult (the Internationale Church of the Perma Smile)
Some of the fun is converting others. I have a coworker who is now trying to talk his wife in to one.

Dixon,
I was on the fence between the MINI and the new MazdaSpeed 3. The MS3 is ***** out fast and has lots more space, but just does not have the character the Mini has. I also felt like I needed to get back to my European roots. I've been in Hondas for the past several years, but I'm an old school VW guy at the core. The community around the Mini reminds me a lot of my old VW days, and that is want eventually swayed me. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, and yes the mod bug has already bitten. 24 hrs in and the NAV has a sexy new voice, the doors are plugged, and the black out process has begun. Now lets see what I can get done before the wife gets back in town and realizes there is a new car in the driveway!

Hey, Jason! Welcome to NAM and congrats on your MINI!

Uh oh....once your wife drives the MINI, she'll want one, too! LOL! Looking forward to seeing pix of your MINI!
