when considering buying a Mini, what should I look for?
If you had to choose between an older (2002-2003) Mini with low miles (20000) or a newer Mini with high miles (50,000) for the same money, which is better?
What are the problems for the 2002-2003 years?
Please, All opinions welcome.

I went and tested some Minis today. I definitely want a tricked out modded Mini now. But, does anybody have advise?
Should I buy an S and mod the car myself? will I save by purchasing one already that has the mods done?

A lot of factors to throw in there. These cars are known for being pretty bomb proof as far as drive train goes. There are a lot of mods that can easily be done with a moderate amount mech knowledge, and help from the great people on this board. I would look for a pretty basic S (man. trans) that has just gone out of the 3 year warranty, but still has some 50k factory drivetrain warranty.
My few pennies.
