Can Waiting Be Fatal?

Hello my many new friends!

Perhaps you can help me with something. In celebration of entering the second decade of my mid-life crisis, I ordered a MINI from Northwest MINI last week and already the wait is killing me. Do any of you know of any actual fatalities that have resulted from the wait? If not, I just might be the first.

Monitoring his own vital signs in Seattle,

Wayne aka "Alfons D'Auto"

Welcome to NAM :-)

Hey Wayne, I not only lived through it once...I lived through it twice. I waited 6 weeks for my first car. Went to pick it up & found it had the wrong dash finish. Ordered another one with the correct spec's & waited another 6 weeks. It was very hard on me, but my wife just about killed me. I survived & so should you. The MINI is worth the wait.

TIP......Check your MINI's spec's & make sure they were ordered the right way. Then check them again. Learn from my mistake.

i did not enjoy the wait (and I waited twice, too) but ever since the MINI has been here it seems insignificant. I'm glad I reordered because I got exactly the car I wanted (well, these days heated seats would be good).

just spend all your waking moments on NAM (that never ends), start buying lots of detailing supplies (see Detailing 101 forum) and then when it's nice out and the dealer is closed, go walk around the lot stalking other MINIs.

welcome! there's no easy way to wait.

Join your local MINI Club (PSMINI) and act as navigator. We've done everything from helping some MINIacs visiting from Germany, to including some 'awaiting production' future MINI owners on Motoring Adventures!

Hehe, yeah it's a gut wrencher. I ordered last week also. What's worse is second guessing color, options, etc.

You are now one of the Walking MINI Dead. This does not mean that you are technically dead as in died dead but you also cannot be considered alive as in Motoring Alive. You will find yourself drifting from NAM forum to NAM forum. Soon you will begin to question your MINI Ordering Judgement when you were in a more human like form. You have a few weeks to correct your order or you will enter into the MINI Double Dead as others have testified in this thread.
Once your pathetic soul has been given a production number you will sign up for the Owners Lounge at www.miniusa.com . Beware, all that glitters is not gold and all that is posted is not truth. Soon, 1-866-ASK-MINI will be revealed to you and you will call, and call and call....but you are still not MINI Alive yet.
There is more yet to come before you exit this purgatory but I can only tell you that someday you will find MINI Nirvana. Someday you will be MINI Reborn. Someday you will Motor ON my friend. Today is not that day, today you are MINI Dead and I will say a MINI Prayer for you.

I've called once so far to see if there was an estimated date for starting production. The courteous gentleman didn't have an answer so I asked when would be an appropriate time to call back.

He replied, "Don't worry about calling to often, many owners call several times a day". Resisting now, but...

Welcome to NAM! The only fatality I am aware of has been faith in my dealer. This was dead and buried long before the MINI arrived.

Only one person that I've heard of has had to have their finger put in a sling. Too much clicking through websites and dialing MINIUSA to get the latest update on their MINI.

I think waiting can get pretty close to fatal; I had to wait an extra month after the dealer's promised time. Oh well, got a thousand off for the wait. It'll be in before you know it!

Thank you all for the moral support. I am currently considering paying a physician to put me in a catatonic state for the next 5 or 6 months. I'm sure I'll make it, but late June/early July seems like a long way off right now.

Now if I can figure out whether to spend $500 on Sport Suspension or Dynamic Stability Control I'll have things figured out.
