Want a MINI

Hi Everyone!

I've been checking out the site for a while now.

I want a Mini so bad! My favorite colour is the Pepper White. Has anyone drivin the automatic. I don't drive a stick and don't know if I could.

Sincerely,

Wantone

Welcome! Wanting a MINI is the worst feeling, until you actually get one, then its fanMINIous! I have one and still wanting another. My husband and I do not share very well!

Welcome to NAM! Stick shifts are easy to drive once you get the hang of the clutch, much more fun too.

Welcome to NAM! I would suggest you find someone that has a stick and give it a try. My wife to be doesnt drive stick either but she doesnt have any desire to either at this point but the longer we have the MINI the more she wants to learn. Happy Motoring!

Hello Wantone...

Good color choice...pepper white is the best!

In answer to your question, I've got an automatic pepper white MC. And it drives just fine.

itch i cant scratch

Listen, I had a Mini as a lad in dublin ireland . loved it, now as an old retired fogie of 63 in florida, I have got the biggest itch in my butt to get another one, especially the mc07 r56. best thing to hit the planet so far, statistics of new engine are amazing+ fuel economy. go for it, DEREK

I know the feeling. We waited 2 years before buying ours. (I had a new 4x4 truck, and finally pulled the trigger. Sold it for my MINI. Glad I did! Wished I would've done it sooner!!!).

I just bought a used PW/B MINI S. Fun barely describes it. You could learn the stick in no time. I read things on this forum for 2 years before I could get mine, NAM has a way of making MINI fever incurable without a MINI in the driveway.

Mini Auto is pretty nice.. OTOH

I drove my first automatic mini yesterday --a 2006 MCS. I was pleasantly surprised at how well matched to the engine the transmission is. So based on my itsy-bitsy bit of Auto MINI experience, I'd say go for it....

However, If you think you'd ultimately like to drive stick, don't be shy. The first ever car I drove that was stick shift was a 1971 MGB. The first time I drove it was right after I handed my cash (all of $670.00) to the previous owner.

Trying very hard to look nonchalant, I hopped in, started it up and with trepidation, started to ease out the clutch. It went forward! It didn't stall!.... and I made it home fine (whew!). After driving it for a week I was getting pretty good at stick shift. After a month, it was almost second nature. It's actually not that hard. It can be a little embarassing the first time you stall in traffic, but life goes on and you do get better. And then shifting becomes a big part of the fun of driving a sports car!

Enjoy!

Hey Wantone,

You need to change your name to Haveone! You'll love it. And, I highly recommend learning to drive a manual transmission as shifting is half the joy of these quirky little machines!

I have a selectronic with the shift paddles. No Clutch to deal with. I can have fun shifting and my wife can use the automatic as she does not like a standard shift. I drove both and the automatic was really FUN! So, I bought it! Either way, you will enjoy it!

The want becomes a need then an urge, then a passion, then an all encompassing compulsion! You find out every bit of information you can, good and bad, then scrape together whatever it takes to make the deal. If you want to go the best way, spec you very own and have it made just for you. You can follow its progress in the factory and all the way to your dealer. We have nearly 2200 miles in just 33 days! And still can't believe its really here! The only bad part about it is the constant cramps in my cheeks from grinning every time I think about it. Driving is what its all about, and you can learn a stick very quickly if you put your mind to it. Best of luck, and I'm betting we'll soon be seeing pictures of you and your "new baby"!
