Just saw a post asking about a jeweler.

This "" woman has five computers in the house and builds webpages for friends.

P.S. - for those that haven't figured it out "kept" is said tongue in cheek.... I'm simply that old fashioned "housewife" that has become a dirty word in so many quarters these days. But I love saying I'm a kept woman.... like my husband tells folks I'm his most recent wife (I'm the only one he's had....)
I suppose you could place me in the same basket as all the other tech weenies... I'm a software engineer, specifically working in the field of simulation for military training, aka government sanctioned games.

Mmmm. I'm a Sr. Project Architect for one of the largest architectural firms in Northeast Ohio. My specialty is research laboratory design. I can offer answers to most easy questions, but liability concerns stop me from providing any real service outside of the office.
I also chair a small board of directors for a church-operated, state licensed, child daycare operation. Since it is based out of the church I obviously have to get involved more closely than a "board" member should. I know what eenieMINI's day is like. I hope you love what you do because that's a busy day.
To the computer savvy folks: I have a newly graduated son in programming and job hunting is tough! Any good sources or ideas for job searching in north Ohio outside the local software association would be appreciated. He needs to help me pay living expenses.
Lastly to the kept woman: Mine recented filed, vacated, and now receives support. I think it's unfair that I still flip the cost but there are no benefits to be had. I'm in search of a rich woman willing to make me a kept man with a generous allowance to cover support costs.
I probably said more than I should have already so I'll end here.

I'm a paralegal for a construction liability firm in Atlanta, GA. I'm 29 and I think I'm going through my "OMG I'm gonna be 30 and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up" phase. My job is not so exciting... I'm trying to find sober sane musicians to work with... needless to say a miracle is in order... My sister-in-law and my mother and I are threatening to open a tea house in Austin,TX if I can ever get back home.
I've been in the securities industry for 27 years, the last 10 working as a sales assistant for a great financial advisor, and even better boss. I'm one of the lucky ones that love my job. ...although I must admit catching glimpses out the window of Luie just sitting there waiting to get going makes me want to spend less time at work!
I'm a botanist, graduated from UCDavis with an Ethnobotany degree. Basically I study how humans use plants, i.e. medicine, clothing, construction, etc. Currently I apply this as an Education Manager for Kiehl's, a botanical skin care company. We sample instead of advertising, and 40% of our clients are men
, so guys and gals, if anyone wants samples, let me know, and I'll mail them out. We love sampling!
Mrs. Skurvy - a tea house is so my dream. That's one of the most fun areas of ethnobotany. Best of luck if that ever goes through.

I am a Petroleum Engineer, have been for the last 21 years. Yep, I earn my wage at an Oil Company (gasp!). But you know MINIs need gasoline too even if it is just a little bit. I graduated from the Univ of Wyoming.
I'm an all-star cheerleading coach, and in a year I'll be a certified athletic trainer (the kind that runs out on the field when someone from your favorite NFL team gets hurt, not the kind that tells you how many squats to do at Bally's!).
For now, I'm just plain stretched thin!

very cool thread... i'm currently a freelance writer/editor/proofreader mostly of the corporate communications type. i spent most of my career at graphic design firms in NYC so I still do work for those types of firms. am looking for a full-time gig right now, probably in corporate communications. i'm looking here in Memphis where my family is or in LA, SF area or NYC - yes casting the net wide.
I'm a college student majoring in English. In the summer I work in the loan department of a bank doing credit analysis and random odd jobs. I also do some photography on the side and I have an open invitation to write for my local newspaper. I also do a bit of stock trading.
I am not a jeweler. But it got me thinking about what we all do. I am a computer consultant, and have been for 26 years. (My front plate should read MID LIFE CRISIS) I am perfectly able and willing to help out my fellow cult members with their computer problems, out of gratitude and because I am toatlly incapable of helping with mod questions.
Anyone else want to offer up what they do?

I must say, I think Ethnobotany is extremely cool! I majored in Linguistics, and love botany, archaeology, anthropology, etc., etc. I'm glad to see you're putting your degree to use. I used to visit the Kiehl's in Manhattan all the time. What an awesome store! The blue astringent was great stuff.
As for me, I work in the College of Business at Florida International University, which is a public university in Miami. I'm in marketing and publications, so I get stuff printed, delivered, mailed, paid for, have stuff photographed, etc. I guess I spend a lot of time getting other people to do stuff!
Lately I've been trying to get more into the graphics end of things, been playing with Photoshop, Illustrator.Ken
I manage the data entry and receiving and distribution department for The Bike Gallery here in Portland Oregon. There are six locations and a warehouse. Ah, the memories... confirmation class, Walther league (Missouri Synod background)
DH and I own a dog training club. www.wolfbrook.com
Prior to doing professional dog training, I was a Travel Agent for 10+ years and still work as a floater on occassion. I want to keep my accreditation so need to show continued employment in the industry.

I am the collector car adjuster (yep the only one) in the claims dept. at a large insurance company in Southern OH.
Wow, am I the first one to report in from the Feds? I work as an administrative assistant for the Natural Resources Conservation Service, a division of the USDA. I help the bigwigs who "help people help the land", as our slogan says. I'm another twenty-something who is freaking out because she doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up. I do know that my business degree isn't quite enough to help figure it out!
I like reading about everyone's different professions. Maybe I'll find something on the list that I've never heard of that is the right line of work for me!

Retired Regular Army Lieutenant Colonel (Viet Vet) 1966-1987, retired State of Florida quasi bureaucrat, currently evaluating impaired drivers who got arrested and teaching DUI classes to folks who have got bitten by the same dog 2x (

At 63, my wife will still not let me collect Social Security. Please, you young folks, make a lot of money--you will be paying for my Social Security. I am thankful that I can work and have fun making a difference. Oh, at 63 I still run between 40-50 miles a week (grand total--over 62,500 miles).
