parking permits & adhesion

I should be picking up Shamu (2006 MCS, dark silver/white roof) sometime next week. This is my first new car in almost 2 decades (props to the reliability if not stylishness of the Toyota Corolla)!!!

For my workplace, I need to put a parking sticker on the rear left window but can almost not bear to do it. They are there for a year, & don't come off well (tearing into shreds that stick), so cars end up with years worth of stickers accruing. Using regular tape could be a last resort but would be rather hoopty looking.

The permit is one of those stickers that you must unpeel to have it be visible. One idea I've got is to stick it to a clear piece of plastic & somehow then adhere that.

I'm curious to see how others have dealt with this. Perhaps I should move the question to the OCD forum

Maybe you could stick it to a clear piece of plastic that doesn't *quite* cover all of the adhesive - maybe leaving a 1mm strip exposed on either side? That would make it much easier to remove when the year's up.

I had this same problem, and decided to stick it with regular tape on the inside of my car, so it's easily removable. I have tint, but it is visible enough since I haven't gotten a warning or ticket or anything like that. I think as long as it's in the location they request and they can see it, it isn't a problem.

Go to an office supply store and get some velcro. I all you need is a very small strip on the car. Then, just keep the sticker in the glove box. Works for me.

If it's small, just put it on the window. It's gotta come off easily with the ol' razor or 'rock knife blade method. That's how I get my reggie and inspection stickers off every year or two.

Here is your solution. I have been using this product for a few years. It is basically one of those cling type stickers. No adhesive. You stick your sticker to it and then it clings to your window. When you need to take it off you simply peel it off easily. You can even move it from car to car or whatever.

My mom came up with this one: just stick the tacky side of the sticker against your pantleg or some other fabric; it'll pick up some fuzz which'll leave the permit tacky enough to adhere to the window, but will peel off easily when you need to replace it. Just one caveat: be extra careful with those stickers that have those pre-cut hatch marks that are supposed to aid in the removal of the sticker. Sometimes those will make the sticker peel off your pant leg in pieces!

BTW, I ended up going with the Sticker Shield. It's exactly what I was looking for; works fantastically. Thanks again!

Thank you, thank you Electric Shock!

I have the same problem. My office requires a parking sticker. I just picked up my shiny new MINI a couple of days ago and I cannot bear to put a STICKER on him!

I am getting the sticker sheild too. Thanks!
