only problem I see is the car does not seem as responsive as I thought it would be.. its quick but it lacks punch IMO (maybe Im so used to my motorcycle lol) or maybe im doing it wrong lol

Congrats! After the break in period just be sure to rev to get the most out of it, it doesn't really come to life until 3500 at least (if it is an auto use the paddles in manual mode, keep it up in the revs and choose your gears for best performance). Also, dropping the heavy S "lite" wheels makes a nice difference in pick up and braking, and if you lose the runflats you'll get better handling to boot

Nice looking car. Well it's never going to accelerate like a motorcycle. If you put an intake & a 15% pulley on there it will pull a lot better. Enjoy the ride.

Oh, and the adaptive software also has an impact on the feel - once it's driven aggressively for awhile the responsiveness should improve.

And what Crashton said, CAI, exhaust, and pully all improve 'punch'

Break her in quick, downshift frequently and pull revs at all the RPM levels, and don't spare the RPMs. My new one has 2800 miles on it and it pulls fairly hard because I was NOT that easy on it during break-in. Tip toe around during break in and the car doesn't seem to pull as much afterwards, that's my story and I am sticking with it.

ok so I just went out with her and yes i have auto (grr my GF wanted auto) anyway I was in "SD" mode and I punched the gas and the car did something WEIRD!! the service engine soon popped on and the car seemed to want to stall and the ! EML light came on for a moment...

um what did I do? I must have touched 6000 rpms at that exact moment it happend.....

car is brand new 100 miles on it...

did I do something wrong???

Nice very nice. Now I am jealous, I do not get mine until the end of next month. Have fun motoring and remember those that are still waiting, and then laugh because your wait is over.

It is my understanding that with the Automatic MCSs, you are supposed to wait until after 1250 miles (engine break-in) before engaging the sport mode. Read your MINI's manual from cover to cover, and heed the suggestions. Good luck!

Even though you are not supposed to rev it that high during break in I do not think that is normal behavior (unless it was the DSC light popping on due to loss of traction and not engine/EML with stalling). After checking the manual to see what it says I'd consider calling the dealer; honestly, if it were me I'd want them to check for codes to see what that might reveal. Could be they simply did not inspect or do something to the car pre-delivery, it would not be the first time a dealer messed up.

Edit: I don't know if I'd mention hitting 6k rpm.. Did they go over the break in process? If they didn't, they should have.
