Confirmed that my Mini shipped out yesterday, not sure what boat that would be because it still does not show up on the WW site. It is headed to Charleston.

About how long does this journey take?

*sigh* My Mini was done on Nov 7th and I still don't have a ride across the pond. I see there is a ship leaving tomorrow for Port Hueneme, CA so maybe I will be on that one! I was calculating and worst case if it leaves tomorrow I will have my mini in 38 days. (23 for the voyage, 7 at the VDC and 5 on the road and 3 at the dealer) If all goes perfect it could be a little shorter (31 days) either way the longest part of the wait is the trip across the pond. Going thru the Panama Canal takes a while!!!

My car was completed November 11th. Set to sail on the TOMBARRA tomorrow. Arrival is set for December 7th. Are cars really held at the VDC for 7 days? I hope not. Either way it looks like our cars will be travel companions all the way to Portland!

I was stating worst case so if it got here early I would be extra happy! From what I read on the VDC post is that it can take between 2 and 7 days at the VDC depending on wether they need to fix any problems before it gets to the dealer. Also 5 days is a little long to get here from southern CA so maybe it will be earlier!! On the other hand i still have no update from the 2wglobal site other then "RETURNED TO SHIPPER" I sure hope I get to travel with you on the TOMBARRA! That being said it is 22-23 days on the boat for sure....

TOMBARRA ED637-TOM LOADED ON VESSEL SOUTHAMPTON 16/11/2006 11:15
Looks like I made it on the Tombarra after all. so Dec 7th it is! hopefully then only a week after that til we are driving our new MINIs

VESSEL SCHEDULE:
PORT ARRIVES DEPARTS
SOUTHAMPTON UNITED KINGDOM 16/11/2006 16/11/2006
MANZANILLO PANAMA 28/11/2006 28/11/2006
PORT HUENEME, CAU.S.A. 07/12/2006 07/12/2006

According to w2global we are travelling with 368 of our brothers!

Unfortunatly the Tombarra is not in the sailwx database so we can't track her position across the pond.

Vdc Delays

I Just got off the phone with my MA to ask about trading in my old junker Honda and mentioned to him that the ship would be in at the VDC on the 7th. He said to me that there was an "inside story" at the VDC that was causing delays of up to 10 days!

According to him the "inside story" is having to do with Oregon potentially requiring California emissions. Aparantly some Oregon BMWs were shipped with CA emissions and they have to "block up some plate" on the Bimmers coming over and it is causing between 7 and 10 days of backlog at the VDC!!! This emission problen does NOT affect our MINIs but because the VDC also processes all the BMWs too it causes all of us delays... ouchy.

RoyalJCW what date did your MA give you as your estimated delivery date? Mine said Dec 30th at the latest...

I didn't get a exact date... just a rough estimate of late December. Who are you buying from? Rasmussen? I'm working with Jarid Perry their. December 30th would be okay... considering it's my Birthday

Yep Rasmussen it is! From my research here and on the OL at miniusa.com Rasmussen seems to be a great dealer and has a competant service department, and did you see the garage? At least it looks awesome! Larry Larson has been taking good care of me over there.

Yeah, I saw the garage. It's super nice since they remodelled BTW, I hope the delay doesn't effect us too much :(

AskMINI is Slow, Tracking website is slower!

Wow I am amazed at how long it takes for MINI to update their tracking systems! I Just called the automated askmini phone number for the 87th time and it FINALLY updated to say "In Transit". That is four days after the ship has sailed! Of course the website still says waiting for transport. It makes you wonder exactly how these things are updated! Oh well... Thanks to this great forum for providing other methods of tracking to quell the incredible need to know where our MINIs are at any given moment...:impatient

Does anybody have an estimate of when our MINIs will be arriving (for the east coast)?

My car which I was going to use as a trade-in got rear-ended yesterday . Now I have to wait until is is repaired before I can get my MINI. It could be three weeks. Will the dealer just hold my car until I can get it? Poor little MINI will be waiting to go home

My guy told me that by the end of this month I should have it. The boat actually arrives in SC today.

How much were they going to give you for your trade?
