deep, deep breathes. imagine yourself as a leaf on the wind. imagine yourself bathed in white lite. imagine yoruself cornering on the dragon....

tekron, our cars are soooooo close! i called my MA and asked for an estimated delivery date, and she just said.... "no, no, this can't be right, let me call you back".... i asked her what she was seeing, and she told me "the system says estimated delivery to dealer on 11/16.... but that can't be right... two weeks at the center is way too long"...

i haven't heard back from her yet, but im hanging on to some optimism that i might just be motoring by next weekend...

Hey guys I received a call today from my MA letting me know that my coop had arrived at the dealer!

Now I just need to finish some paperwork. My MA will be out on Wednesday so the plan is to pick it up this Thursday!

I was surprised the entire process from my first visit to the dealer to it arriving took only four weeks!

Can't wait! I will post pics as soon as I have it!

My car was built October 12th...It sat in Southampton for over a week. I had to track it through another buyer who mananged to find out the ship name. My dealer did not have that information. It was the slowest ship to cross the pond (16 days). It landed in Charlotte November 3rd and now I guess it's sitting on this dock waiting for a ride to Ft. Lauderdale. I thought it would be 5 days from landing but probably not. They said 6-8 weeks when I ordered...We will be 8 weeks this weekend. I will update when my mini arrives.
Pure Silver - black bonnet stripes...big wheels...and shiny hubcaps

I received some very disappointing news today. It seems as if the Coop came without the cold weather package I had specified. This is disheartening since I was really looking forward to using the heated seats here in chilly Connecticut!

My MA was very nice and sincerely apologized (He did not know how the screw-up happened. He also offered some additional accessories which we will discuss when he comes back this Thursday) nevertheless, I am still terribly disappointed.

He also mentioned that as of last Sunday they can no longer order any 2006 MINI's. So placing another order is out. He searched other dealers but was unable to find a model with all of my specific options.

I will probably still end up purchasing it (The fun factor is simply too much too pass up!) however this incident has really soured my MINI experience.

nejhad! thats a real bummer. :(

don't let the lack of heated seats throw you too far for a loop, though... my wife did a great job of convincing me that the heated seats weren't really worth it, and perhaps her logic will help sway you.... first, in CT, you'll probably only be using heated seats 4 months out of the year, tops. second, for those 4 months, the car still has heating- you can always crank up the "old fashioned" heat, which will do a pretty fine job of warming you up. third, for the cost of the winter package, there are a ton of other interesting things you could have instead; which options have you chosen so far?

i would deftinately lean very, very hard on the dealer about this... let him know that your seriously thinking about scrapping the whole deal unless he can make you very very happy.

and, one more thing... cold weather package or not, you STILL might be the first member of production week 42 to get to actually SEE their mini! CONGRATS!

Comport - Thanks for the kind words. U make excellent points about not needing the heated seats and I have one more reason: I ordered cloth seats not the Leatherette type. I didn’t like the feel of the vinyl so I passed on it. Looking back now it seems like a great choice since I do believe cloth will not be as cold as vinyl might get during the real cold days!
I will fully play all my cards right with the dealer; I will be expecting them to make me totally forget about the cold package.

Here are my options as originally ordered (btw they also ordered the wrong wheels however they swapped them out once the car arrived at the dealer!):

Astro Black with Body Colored Roof and Mirrors
Cold Weather Package
Cloth Seats
7-hole type wheels
Auto Transmission
Center Armrest
Front and Rear Fog lights
Harmon-kardon audio
Anthracite interior
MFSW
IPOD Adapter
Aux Adapter

I have a name for my Coop: "Bones" short for "Bare Bones"

I might not pick it up this Thursday. I will be negotiating with the dealer. But I will post pics as soon as I see it!

Any suggestions regarding additional accessories I should request from the dealer?

for the cost of those seats, you should be able to get some combination of:
  • auxiliary gauges
  • glovebox organizers, boot nets, saddlebags, etc
  • bonet stripes
  • chromed/checkered/flagged mirrors
if you were willing to put a few more dollars into it, then the invisishield may be a great option; its a hotly contested topic on most forums, but its an option...

"Qoop" is at the Distribution Center!! This is soooo exciting. I was unable to track her progress across the pond (VIN not found in the WW database) so I had to assume she was coming in on the ship that was headed to Charleston. The estimated delivery date is 11/9. I sold my bright green 93 Honda DelSol a month ago after 145 thousand glorious miles (despite the water leak into the trunk). I will miss the pop top since the MINI convertable was a touch more than I could afford.

British Racing Green
Black Roof/Mirror Caps
Anthracite Interior
MF Steering Wheel
Rear Spoiler
Leatherette
Sport Seats
Aux Input
Bonnet Stripes

Ready to motor!

Arrived in Charleston: 11/4
Arrived in Charlotte at the dealership: 11/8

Ok I think that if you have been lucky enough to be motoring around in your new Mini then you should get everyone else in this week pics to see that same new Mini.
Lets do this. To those congrats.

Ok here is what the dealer offered in a an effort to make up for the order screw-up:

$400 off the price
IPOD and Aux Adapters
All-Weather Floormats

I again expressed my disappointment with the cold weather package not being included in the order however I accepted the their offer.

Did I receive enough compensation? The total for the items above adds up to about $800 so I guess its pretty decent.

What do you guys think? Had I not accepted I would not be able to order a 2006 - which is the one I really want. All my other options are there.

Sounds like some of you will pick up your MINI before me. I will end up picking it up next week since I don't believe I will be able to tomorrow or Saturday. I will post pics soon as I have it!

Sorry I didn't get the post until after I got home. I'd definitely call Hendrick and see where your car is. Your car should be here, depending on how quickly it got through the VDC.

right off the bat, $400 off the top just about breaks you even; everything beyond that is compensation for your "emotional damages".

iPod and aux adapter is a nice perk; the raw materials for the two options are probably less than 50 bucks combined, and its probably about an hours worth of work to install them, but having them "throw that in" is a nice gesture.

the all-weather mats... again, i think its just good karma that they threw them in. honestly, i can't really understand why floormats aern't standard in the first place.

overall, im sure your going to be insanely happy with your 06, and with $400 in your pocket, listening to your iPod, in wet muddy boots. an 06 bird in the hand is worth two 2007 birds, or something. :D

Yes, I actually took delivery of her last night. It was a nice 2 hour drive (google maps says 2 1/2 hours) from Charlotte to Raleigh. Pics (and possibly video) will be coming tomorrow! Sorry guys, you'll have to wait just a few more hours.

Anyone else motoring yet???!!!
