I'd be careful. That automatic would be hyper-expensive to repair. I wouldn't risk anything that might nullify the warranty. If the dealer will do the work and warrant it (some will), then it may be worth doing.

The transmission has a 190 Hp limit in the manufacturer's warranty so I did not install the full John Cooper Works package (Spring 2006). Installed JCW Air Intake and Sport Exhaust. Dealer figures that gives me 185 Hp.

I'll finish the full JCW package in a couple of years (unless I get a "offer I can not refuse" sooner). I thought I read on motoringfile.com that the full JCW package is now available for the MCSa.

That would mean MINI will honor the transmission's warranty up to 208/210 Hp. But, only with the JCW package I suspect. Well, with only 185 Hp I have a "kick ***" ride (and I love tha paddle shifters).

I tracked my MCSa just after my break in and have since modded it about as far as I feel I want to. You can see below what I have and about the only thing I'll do in the future are Koni shocks and maybe a BBK in the front plus different tires.

I haven't had any problems yet, but then, I only track it at HPDEs, plus drive it daily. I'll bring it to the Dragon in May, too.

Another one of these threads...

Modding is simple, only mod if you know you can afford to fix it. Warranty doesn't mean squat.

I have been LUCKY with my MCSa and had my entire engine swapped out when I had a pulley installed. My cylinder head was warped and BMW/MINI swapped the entire block out.

I'd love to see this paperwork which says the hp limit of the tranny. Mine has seen alot more HP then stated above, of course if its doing more then its rated then it could just last less then normal.
