Production Week 44 (Oct 27)
me too! but hopefully i'll be able to pick it up, becuase at first they said 6 days but 6 days was a day ago, and they still don't know where my MINI is.
Thanks for the pics Pepperoni, that's a sleek, clean little machine. Seeing that pics always helps me deal with the wait.
I hope you're having fun with it and will be able to take it out for a long, fun ride this weekend.

That's good to know!
I just talked to my MA on the phone and he said my car had been released to them and that it should be there by Monday. He said depending on the time it arrives dictates when I will get it so I am hoping either monday or tuesday!!!!!!
This is going to Mt. View, California for those interested.

Nice to hear fillbert, it seems that my car is still on the port, and i called my MA yesterday to see if i could pick it up ( this is 9 days after it has landed) and they responded by telling me that they didn't know where the car was. I was extremely dissapointed and well, i think i'll have to wait almost another week. My dealer is in Long beach which is really close to the port, so, they said that they will have my car by either wednesday or thursday.
I'm guessing most of the west coasters who were on Don Juan will have our MINIs by the end of this week. I went into the dealership yesterday to sign a waiver in order to ensure that the dealer does NOT drill holes into my front bumper in order to install a front license plate (Colorado is a 2 plate state). When I was there I found out that my MINI was supposed to arrive at the dealership yesterday, but the dealership does not take deliveries on Saturdays, so it'll be delivered tomorrow and should be ready before next weekend.
I had to deal w/ the 1st irritating MA I've ever met as my MA was not working. He asked if I had "finalized my accessories" with my MA -- as if a buyer is required to buy accessories at jacked-up retail prices from the dealer. I told him that I wasn't getting any accessories. Then he looked at me as if I was from another planet and asked, "Not even clearbra, tint and floormats?". I reply by saying, "No, and I've heard rumors that some dealers give floormats free to new buyers....". And before I can complete that thought he cuts me off and says, "Not this dealer!". So now I'm a bit pissed off as this guy isn't even my MA and that he's trying to sell me stuff I don't need at inflated retail prices for a car I've waited 9 weeks for and paid retail for it. So.... I basically quipped back that "there was no way I was going to buy accessories at retail prices from a dealer that can't even throw-in floor mats for a new car purchase...". So this ignoramus keeps going by saying about how they don't charge a premium or additional prep fees or paperwork fees, as if they have a RIGHT to charge these premiums and fees and that I should be grateful that they're not gouging me and my wallet. So, I just tell him that the only time I'll need anything from the dealer is when it's time for scheduled maintenance. Then he interupts me again saying, "and that (scheduled maintenance) is free" --- as if I don't already know about the free scheduled maintenance and he and the dealership are doing me some great favor of honoring the free scheduled maintenance. So does he actually think that by arguing his point with me that I'm suddenly going to start dropping hundreds of dollars on overpriced dealer installed accessories??? :impatient . I never wanted dealer accessories (although I will later find a reputable clearbra installer on my own). The only thing I want for now is my new car delivered to me in pristine condition.
Anyway, I'm away this week for work and should be picking up my BRG next Saturday.

You need to post his name, and his attitude, somewhere. Call MINI USA or something. Give him and the dealer all 1s (the lowest rating) when you do the survey after delivery.
Every dealer should give you AT LEAST the floor mats for free. I got them.

Bad news for you guys, good news for Celtic Frost
Well guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news (at least for you). But, my MINI will be arriving at the dealer today and I should be taking delivery either late Friday or during the day Saturday.
It's bad news for you guys because once I pick it up, I will be the owner of the coolest, fastest and greatest MINI on the face of the planet and the best any of you hosers can hope for is 2nd best.
If I don't post pics on Friday or Saturday, it's because I'll be too giddy, euphoric and possibly comatose due to a big overdose of long overdue motoring -- most likely on some back mountain twisties somewhere in The Rockies.
I hope anyone still waiting won't be for much longer. And to whoever currently owns the coolest, fastest and greatest MINI on the face of the planet I offer my condolences and hereby demand that you abdicate your throne within the next 48 hours.

Gorged and Bloated...
...on Motoring that is.
Oh yeah, it was good.
Picked up the Mini this afternoon which took almost 2 hours at the dealer because my MA gave me an excellent and thorough tutorial on all the buttons, switches, etc.. Left with a grin on my face, but only had about another hour of daylight and my camera's batteries went kaput. Should have pics up tomorrow night as I plan on getting up early tomorrow for round 2. Ended up doing about 125 miles today on back mountain twisties (that I'd never been on before) under the night sky.
At about mile 50, the burble of the exhaust became more audible, so I turned off the radio and just listened to the whine of the super charger and the growl of the exhaust for the rest of the ride.
Things noted:
-The boot gets dirty and dusty quick. Probably due to aerodynamics or lack thereof. I'll have to get pics up soon, before it gets too dirty.
-I had heard some people saying that the clutch/brake/gas setup was too close for big feet, but I had absolutely no problems while wearing a chunky pair of size 11 1/2 Dr. Martens boots.
-My MINI seems to pull to the left ever so slightly. I'll call my MA on Monday.
-You can still have a ton of fun and stay under 4500 rpm -- which is the max rpm for the 1250 mile break-in. Although I think I may have had a few 5000 rpm moments
.
-On board computer estimated about 29mpg. If that's even close to accurate, then I'll take it as I was in 3rd gear most of the time through the twisties at about 3000-3500 rpm.
-Total driving time was about 3.5 hours and the sport seats felt fine. The fact that I had them heated for almost the whole ride may have helped.
That's it for now. To those of you waiting -- hang in there, I really do feel for you.

congradulations guys i took delivery of my MINI three days ago, and have already put a few miles on it. I find myself hoping to encounter corners and even go out of my way to find some. The car was definately worth the wait.
I have had mine for 3 weeks and I have a little over 2000 miles on it.
I am happy that everyone has started to get their MINIs.
Got mine last night!!! Took forever, had to finish up the financing and there was only one person for the Mini and BMW dealership so it took almost 3 hours :( I didn't get to drive it much last night becuase it was late but I am looking forward to after work today and this weekend!!!
But Chris and Fillbert have not
.
Looks like it's time to replace that enroute club emblem with a team craptastic one!
sweet MINI gonzo, is that the space blue? mine is hyper blue, and i'll try to get pics up as soon as possible. I have a few questions and concerns for you guys, as much as i love my baby, taking it through corners and such, there are a few questions that i have about the car.
1) my driver side mirror is warped and i get dizzy looking out of it, i called my dealer about this
2) when i hold unlock it doesn't open the windows and the sun roof my dealer programed this.
3) my H/K sound system is missing hte speed sensitive volume control
4) my boot is always very dirty and there is always dirt on it, i washed it two days ago and the back is already filthy.
5) i have a crazy amount of brake dust, is this normal?
I hope you guys are all enjoying your MINI's please help me out if you know anything about these things.

Thanks. Yea, it's space blue. Looking forward to seeing your pix.
About your questions:
1) Sounds like a dealer fix
2) You have to press the unlock a total of 3 times with a pause in between each press. 1. unlocks your side, 2. unlocks the passengers side, 3. press and hold for a couple seconds and the windows start to roll down. If that isnt happening maybe the dealer has to check to make sure it's properly programmed.
3) As odd as it sounds, that speed function in the menu you are looking for is only available on the lower priced system. The HK system is supposed to be automatic. If it is, its barely noticable to me.
4) This cars aerodynamics (or lack thereof) make it so the back of our cars pick up all the street grime. It sucks, but at least you're making the world a cleaner place every time you drive.
5) It seems the OEM brakes produce lots of brake dust. There are organic and ceramic pads that are supposed to greatly reduce the brake dust. I feel your pain.

i just talked to my MA about these things too, thanks for all of the help, she told me about the green stuff brake pads which are pretty cool, i've herad about them, but i think i'll use out the OEM stuff, i'll try to get pics up asap.
