Stock Security??
As far as I know, no MINI has been stolen without a tow truck or a stolen key.
I'm not a big fan of flashing lights and honking horns and sirens going off in the middle of the night because a cat walked past the car, and since I live in a pretty safe area, the immobilizer is enough for me.

hm.
another option. hm.
duno if I should or not. I do thank you. I bet i get a discount as I didnt haggle my price at all. the dealer just kept dropping it as we talked for a week of testing and configuring.
Safety pup tip:
(never haggle below msrp and be nice, you get the stars brought to you forever with saleman and dealer which is worth thousands, plus they just drop prices on you for being such a relief as a customer, tip that no one sees the value in)

My dealer (Long Beach Mini) quoted me $795 for the factory alarm ($295 alarm and flashing turn stock, $500 for install). Some people have bought the alarm (ie Classic Mini) and have installed the alarm themselves. The car comes prewired. One to two hrs for install. You then have to take it to a dealership for them to program the alarm (1/2 hr labor $50-100). The stock alarm has a interior motion sensor, tilt sensor, and flashing light on the turn stock.

An hour would be generous for install time - it's a 1 on a 1-5 scale. Easy...
I wouldn't call it necessary, but I like having the flashing stalk (note that if you get the stalk, it flashes even if the rest of the alarm/programming is not there!) and the chirp on lock/unlock.
