Just ordered 06 MCS

Hi All

[SIZE=2]I have been lurking for quite some time now and ordered an 06 MCS today so it‘s time to say hi. Dealer is saying delivery around the end of October. Like everyone else I have been trying to get as much info on the 07 as possible and when Mini finally released the official pics and info I debated about a day and went for the 06.

I am sure the 07 will be a great car and superior in many ways but the 06 just does it for me, simple as that. The 06 may drop it’s value now but it is what makes you happy.

Anyway……….
Dark silver with silver roof, mirrors and bonnet strip.
Sport package.
Auto (I got tired of a stick in traffic and the wife insists, you be the judge of which carried more weight).
Chrono package.
Arm rest.
Rear fog lamp.

Thanks for the great site. I have been able get a lot of useful information and opinions here.

Welcome to NAM!

Congrats on your order! Sounds like a really nice looking Mini! Dark Silver with Silver! You'll have to post some pics when your new baby arrives!

the 06, being that it looks better than an 07, will be worth a very high amount one day if kept in good condition. I foresee 07 onward as being really crappy on the eyes for a long time. There is little mechanically the mini needs in terms of improvement. The super can be boosted past 200 hp easily with minimal effort and danger to the engine.

07 is a dud. :( That is why I bought now instead of doing a short term investment and then buying it in the winter to be ready for the spring.

I just got my 06 a couple of days ago and wouldn't trade it for a 07 if I could today. They did alot to screw that car up. That color combo is going to rock!

Hopefully they'll finish a little early and you'll be able to get on the 11th boat

Welcome from another new Phoenix area owner. Be sure to look up the AZ/Phx club here http://www.dynamicminicollective.com - I've met some of the members and they seem great. Hope to see you on the road soon!

Thanks UsCoops. I did run across their website earlier and probably will look into joining. Now that the car is coming into existence, I am getting more anxious for the big day.

Welcome! I am due to pick mine up in Phoenix next week. NAM is a great place to mind the wait. Sounds like you have a nice car coming!

BTW... I too went through the same thing as you regarding the 06 and 07 MINI's... I think you made a good choice

Cactusflier...
Congratulations! You made a GREAT choice! Although I've sold my soul to Pepper White, I came VERY close to purchasing a dark silver MCS convertible not too long ago. I really like that color.

I've got to agree with you about the '06...for me I think it was the old "bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush" argument. I hope that the 07 is all that Mini says it's going to be, but I'm not convinced. Consumer Reports FINALLY recommended the Mini this year for the first time since it's been sold here in the States. If you look at the progression of ratings over the last five years, it's gone from not so great to fantastic! No telling what problems may arise with a new engine. I am rather wary of model changes.

Again, congratulations on your purchase!

Chuck
