Why ruin a great thing??!!!

OK, I just realized that Electric Blue, Yellow, and Purple are discontinued. Moreover, the awesome retro looking speedometer will no longer be available for the 2007's. Add insult to injury, I hate that the inside dash has lost it's cockpit charm, with multiple logo that are unnecessary and retract from its classic styling. And this is the last week to order the 2006!!! Why did they do this?

Yup, you're on it. The ole MINI is soon to be another classic. The new MINI is so like a sedan, or a meaner lookin Dodge.

Some people hate the new interior. I actually like it. It seems more unified, from a design standpoint, than our current interiors. My current '04 MCS seems busier. I don't mind it one bit, mind you, but I do like the simplified new interior. It is a design evolution, and I think it'll be much better in person, versus judging low-resolution JPEG's on the internet...

While the 07s have a smoother and more simplified design, I think the details of the older models are what gives it a more classic look. While I think both cars will be "classics" down the road, the 02-06s will be something to hold onto. So hurry and ****** a bunch up while you can .

As for the "low-resolution" pics, there are a lot of very detailed pics out there now and they haven't given me any better impression of the car. I don't hate the 07s. Change is necessary and I think overall its a good progression, but there are a few design elements I dislike. But like you mentioned, I think the ultimate judgement should be delayed until we can see it in person.

I have to disagree with that.

In my opinion the NEW dash is more in line with the classic Mini. The only thing in those older cars is a speedo and a couple toggle switches. The new dash is more in tune with spartan feel of the classic.

My Inno Mini 1001 didn't even have door handles.
The Cooper Innos had the killer 6 guage cluster, very busy.

I don't like the dash of the '07 much either but it's still better then all the appliance cars out there.

Well, I wouldn't mind so much if it were only that they would leave the speedometer alone. IN my opinion it resembles the photos that Crusoe has on his car . I don't know if I can scrounge up the 1K right now for my deposit, but I certainly am feeling a bit better about the 07. After all, it's still a MINI!!

Most likely because they didn't sell. Car companies change colors all the times. Poor sellers bite the dust.

The change in 07 (I own an 06) will in the long run be beneficial. They previous run of 4 years with one design is long enough. Just look at the history of the Corvette - various re-do's, various designs, what you end up with is some people loving some of the designs and others loving a different one.
