I heard a rumor tonight.... I called my MA and he told me that I had a production number. The server was down earlier when he checked. He is supposed to call me in the morning to let me know what it is. Hmm...He said I should be in the first couple of weeks. I wont believe that until I see it, but, ANY information is exciting!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!

Now comes the NEXT step of waiting.

I just made a few changes to my spec and my MA says I'll likely be bumped back a week or two. Still happy with my changes. Now I get to see if my production week changes.

Mine's on a boat, the Freedom, it left Southampton (UK), on 8/5...made a stop in NY, then MD, and is now headed to Charleston SC for arrival in the US. Finally! The ship is expected to arrive this Saturday...then it has to go through the distribution center, a train ride north, then through my dealership...ugh!

Of course good things comes to those who wait!

 

I told my MA that I might change the regular leather to the English leather. But, I am not sure. Getting the actual production number and week will make me stop changing my order. Impulse.. I need to stop that!

But having now seen in-person all those options I was unsure of on similarly specced cars, I'm pretty sure I won't change again.

...and welcome to the hellish torture...that is...waiting for your beloved mini.

It seems to get worse when they up the realism a bit and tell you the VIN# for your mini. I think its all just an evil tease...

...and about the leather situation...you should totally get the english leather. If you are going to have leather you should go all out. You may get swamp butt...(and that is certainly a hazardous risk) but atleast you will have swamp butt with style.

 

Nothing like a swamp butt to grab extra attention as you exit the MINI!

Ok, I have it! I have a production number!!!! YEAH! I am now registered with the owners lounge. 866-askmini has my name because I have already called to see if I can get a production week! The answer was no. No production week as of yet. Jeremy (from ASKMINI) said that they wont assign a production week until they get a "batch" of similar cars for production. I wonder if that is why some production numbers get pushed? I guess it has to do with flow of production and the line up of parts. Easier and faster if you are essentially building the same car. The upside is that both ASKMINI and my MA keep saying it will build in sept. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

 

Check it out, I am in third gear, and I don't even have my production week!! I must talk too much!

ok, I did it, I changed my order again. I am now getting the english panther leather. Please oh please, go into production soon! :impatient before I know it, my purchase price will increase by another 3k. Heck, I caught myself pricing the JCW kit. see, now I really need to stop it. unichips, pulleys, air intakes, new rims, checker flags! How much more is a girl to take?? How deep must my pockets be?

 

Remember Climbergirl, you have a dog or more to feed. My wife has threatened to leave me if I don't back off and I only purchased a set of PIAAs and a Garmin C330 for our new baby.

 

The only thing working in my favor is that my fiance wants to mod his new motorcycle. Uhuh! Check that out... he buys a mod for him.... I buy a mod for me... both dogs get a new toy.... baby gets a new pair of shoes.... I did find out today that my car has a production date!! wk of sept 4th!! yeah!! Now I am locked down. The sweetest thing is that my girlfriends husband is an artist, and they are buying vinyl printers. All my stickers at cost!! wavy checkered flag for the roof, front side panels... yes!! I am so excited! doin the happy dance!

 

Hey Climbergirl - how did you get your production date out of interest. My MA told me weeks ago that it would be week 36, but I couldn't resist a call to ASK MINI earlier today and was told our status changed to scheduled for production on August 15 (note that the owners lounge status still says on order). Before I start to do the happy dance I want to know what this really means!

 

I called askmini, he told me that I was 112 status and that my production will start the week of sept 4th and that it should be completed around the 10th or 11th. OL still says on order. I allow myself to call askmini once a week when I am waiting for changes. I called last week, and they didn't have any info for me other than that the order had been placed by southbay. So, today is a big developement! Ask mini told me the same change date (8/15). I have heard that the OL is slow to update. still doing the happydance here!

 

Just checked again with ASK MINI and apparently we are in production - we even have a VIN!!

I want a vin! I changed the leather yesterday to english panther, so I called back today just like you said, and askmini told me that there wasn't a production wk now... maybe because I changed the type of leather. He said to call back later, that it may be updated then. what if they delay my production wk because of the leather?? Well, if they do, that's ok. I really want the english leather. I think I am goina go dye my hair blue to match my mood.
