I ordered my Hyper Blue MINI with the Lapis Blue Leather upholstery . I have a production number and was called by my MA yesterday who provided some code number to me that indicated it was about to go into production (I think not because the factory is shut down for the first two weeks of August I believe). Anyway, he told me that the Lapis Blue Leather in no longer available (it still shows on the MINI NA build your own site though) and I need to pick something else quickly. Can anybody out there confirm that Lapis Blue is not available? Is there some other way for me to check because this just doesn't make sense to me?

 

Wow what a bummer. You could try calling 1-866-Ask-Mini and talk to a representative. I would think your dealership would know though...

I just got mine built last week with blue lapis...I was not told at the time I ordered it was going away or anything...

 

It was mentioned here and on WRR or Motoringfile that they were going to drop a number of options slowly to transition to the R56 production. The LB seats were on the list so it's probably true.
I went with SG/B cloth to keep me from sliding and it looks nice. I did at one point consider the checkmate package but that too is no longer available.

If you're set on leather
there's black
and I've seen a few HBs go with with the tan and black.
Or have them re-upholstered, you'll get a much better quality leather.

 

Golfersmurf (good name!) - I call ASK MINI and spoke to Carrie who told me that Lapis Blue will be available on orders placed and received before September 1. Thanks for the advise! I've gone back to my MA at South Bay MINI in SoCal and asked him to follow up.

when i ordered my mini s at the end of june, my MA told me the lapis blue leather seats were going to be phased out this summer. i got mine ordered just in time!

Could it possibly also have to do with dealer allocations? Meaning, if South Bay has a backlog and can't get you into production before September 1st, would that make the difference? If so, you might want to talk to other dealers in your area to see if you could get in before September 1st with them.

 

I hope you can get it. I have Lapis Blue leather with my HB MCS (with HB dash and anthricite headliner). It looks great.
