I have a bra with clear straps. All the guys in my club get a kick out of saying both my MINI and I wear clear bras.

batgirl, did you know that SD is still charging 4k prem charge? I talked them into msrp on the phone, but wanted to neg low jack and permaplate. I passed even tho they had an earlier production date. Did you enjoy your road trip? I guess when you buy out of state, its almost like bmw's european delivery. Well, not quite, but you get the idea. Save money on the car, and spend it on the trip instead. Well, no autobahn either.

Get your MINI in Ohio, and do the roadtrip. Bonding with bf and your car in the process. Good for the relationship and makes for a great ice-breaker at MINI gatherings.

p.s. You'll find the people less neurotic along the way back home too, great reality check that.

I am so sorry. To end the confusion: I wrote weeks instead of months. So it's about 8(eight) weeks or 2(two) months. I placed an order for JCW about 6-7 weeks ago–the car is now at distribution center.

Yeah, I can understand that. When we went in I told my MA straight out that I was in commission sales myself and didn't want any fooling around. He tried some of the extras so i explained that I had spent 15 years do aftermarket car stereo works and knew what this stuff would cost me to get and put in so he sort of gave up quickly.

You know whats funny MGCman? I met my BF on my last road trip home from Ohio. He had just moved to Colorado a few months before to manage a small ski hotel. He was on duty, I was traveling through, and well, lets just say that 3 mo's later he moved to LA. Hey, I met him 2yrs ago today!! It's our anniversary! I am horrible with dates. Happy that neither one of us gets hung up on those things. I would forget about christmas if it wasn't for mass marketing.

That's my MA...I just picked up my MINI July 8th...tell him "Jayne" from Michigan said Hiya! I would recommend Classic. I had a good experience.

So climbergirl, did you order your MINI today? If so, from whom? Curiousity overwhelms.

caminifan, I went into a find a quicker production date frenzy today. I spoke to so many MINI dealers, I was sick of being on the phone. In my heart I know I need to stick with SB. I let them know that I was shopping them, I asked them for a few favors, and they came through. Soo, with that being said, I scheduled an appt late tomorrow morning. I am fairly particular, and they have been very easy to work with. I was quite surprised to find out that Long Beach MINI doesn't require a deposit. Yet, they still provide you a VIN and production number. Fairly amazing since I have heard deposits ranging from $500 to 2k. I laughed at the MA in San Diego when he said 2K. I didn't mean to, it just came out. I actually prefer placing a deposit as a bit of leverage if something goes wrong with the production. I can't wait to order this car because I keep finding things to add on. Hey, what do you think about the sunroof. I have a golden retriever and chocolate lab who will be motoring around sometimes (we have a subie outback as the official doggie/road trip car) and I don't want the interior to be baking with me and the dogs in it. I want a wavy checkered flag, but should I limo tint first? Whats school of thought on it?

Thanks Jayne, can't believe it has been 2 yrs. For awhile I was quite accomplished at the commitment phobia thing. 2 bubbies aka dogs and 2yrs later and we are doing awesome, no one else I would rather spend my days and nights with. And he is as excited about the mini as I am. Actually, we we test drove it, I had to beg him to back off the gas. Let me tell you, that is huge, because I am the "indy" driver in the house. Our MA was encouraging him to take the corners faster! Crazyness!

Try Mike Davis at Brecht Mini in Escondido (near San Diego) - here is his e-mail address:
mikedavis@brechtmini.com
I ordered around 11 July and my car is on the boat.

But did you order the car? Placing a deposit gives you some minor leverage, but the most amount of certainty is when you have a production slot/VIN tied to your name in the factory production system. That is the only way that the car is "yours".

The factory sunroof is HUGE. The only drawback (if there is one) to the sunroof is the mesh sunscreen. There is another thread on NAM about solutions to the mesh sunscreen. It basically comes down to either using some sort of removable screen like the ones used to cover the front window to protect the dash or some sort of added tint. If you want to do the wavy checkered flag, I think the checkered flag film goes on the outside; so, you should be able to do the limo tint (inside of the sunroof panel) as well.

Yeah! You tell 'em FQN!! Altho there seems to be a Niello love-fest going now in NAM, I cannot stand them, the way they have treated friends of mine interested in a MINI (who ended up going to East Bay) or their general snotty attitudes and ridculous markups on dealer stock. Glad someone agrees with me. Jimbo

Mine was shipped from Classic on an open truck BUT that was less than 300 miles. Cross country I would definitely go enclosed.

I wish I had gotten a clear bra. With 50,000 miles now my nose is sandblasted. Not a scratch on it otherwise. Oh well.

I wouldn't let Brecht push me around on the mark-up issue. I was happy working with D&R, and had a great roadtrip with miniwildcat (my bro). Keep in mind that it isn't just that the money you save on mark-up goes to the road trip, you also pay less tax because the total amount of the car is less.

BTW, my Dad bought his M3 while living in the Netherlands. He picked it up in Munich and drove it back on the autobahn.

hey batgirlwildcat, I told brecht that mark up wasn't happening. The MA said he had sold some mini's at msrp, but that they old sold lojack and permaplate. Still told him I wasn't interested. I stuck with SB and ordered today. Now I am regretting my color choice. I may call and change it tomorrow. I have to sleep on it. Jealous of you dad!!

I ordered from Long Beach. The first time we went, they said a 4-5 month wait. We came back the next week to order one and they'd just received a new allotment. They said it would be 2 months. Well, I ordered it the first week of July. It's due to be finished in England on August 17th. The other reason SoCal stinks is because it takes so bloody long to get here. I've been told that once it's finished, it will take 28 days on a boat to get here, then another 7-10 days to make it to the dealer. At this point, I'm looking at delivery in late Sept/early October. So it's about a 3 month wait (which is what their website said, when i checked it last week too!)

hey, arthurbang, I talked to LB, almost switched to them. But, my guy at SB has been helpful, and fun. So, I will reward good service with loyality. After realizing that the mini factory will be closed for 2wks in august, my time frame seems reasonable. I am happy you are getting your car soon. If you see a 330i looking at your car with envy, wave, cuz that will be me!
