Long search is over, thanks in large part to NAM.

I have been shopping for a new "fun" car for almost two years and have considered an MCS, 325i, G35 coupe, Legacy Spec B, RX-8 and several others. After test driving all of these cars, the two that really stood out were the MCS and the 325. The MCS felt like it "fit" me the best, and the $15k savings over a moderately equipped 325 was a definite plus as well. It was a tough choice, but I think what pushed me over the edge was the strong Mini community I found on this site, and I ended up ordering an MCS.

I have spent months going through every post I could find on what are the best options, etc and then tortured myself for several weeks over what was my favorite color combo. I had started out thinking I would go with RG/S, but after seeing it in person, it was a little too brown/olive for my tastes, and I ended up ordering a DS/B. I am still thinking I should have ordered a DS/W (I live in Florida) and might change it to this before I get a build date. My MA told me I would most likely have a Week 33 production date.

So I just wanted to say thanks to all and post my current specs:

2006 MINI Cooper S
Dark Silver/Black
Convenience Package
LSD
DSC
Front & Rear Fog Lamps
Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi
Anthracite Dash & Headliner
Leatherette
Auto A/C
On-Board Computer
MFSW
Xenons

congratulations on your order and welcome to non-lurker status!

i'm assuming you are questioning the roof color because of the heat and sun so as for your decision regarding /W vs. /B... i would go with what you like more. from what i understand (and i'm sure i will be corrected if wrong) that there is a very minor difference in interior heat as a result of black vs. white top.

Good choice! BMW also has a great community of owners. But I think the Mini community is a bit more enthusiastic which makes owning the car that much better. I dont see anyone else waving from their cars as they drive around.

The MINI lifestyle, should you choose to embrace it, is FANTASTIC!

Hey Gator123 welcome to NAM! Congrats on your MCS order!

I can related with you, I've started searching for a "fun car" after trading in my beloved '94 Ford Probe GT for a family sedan.

Luckily Mini's are all about fun and Mini folks are fun too!

BTW - My car's a Week 30 build!
