New to Me 02 MCS

Hi,
New owner of a 2002 MCS. Any 02 quirks I should be aware of?
Thanks

I am unfamiliar with the 02's, but congrats on acquiring your MINI, pictures show it to be a nice one!

The one quirk you will be experiancing, will be extreme envy. All of you relatives friends, and neighbors, will be jealous. Dont get too cocky, and you should be safe. Congrats though. I just got an 02 MC, and no bugs so far, BUT make sure the windows are in working order, they like to stop working.

Aloha and welcome to NAM.

Quirks? Sure, it's made in Oxford England so expect the usual english car stuff.

Windshields can crack- don't hit rocks and don't follow big trucks loaded with little rocks. Give yourself a gap when following others.

Electronics can be a hassle- electric windows sometimes fail. Periodically check them.

02 MCS had some problems with stumble and hesitation at lower rpms and in lower gears. Give your MINI some gas and don't be timid. Best performance is in the 3500-5000+ rpm range- have some fun.

Some airbag dash lights come on, some coolant reservoir bottles leak, some PVC hoses soften and collapse, some Xenon lights fail.

Check out the Beneath the Bonnet forum from older posts- the original owner might have already dealt with some early problems.

Major quirks should be worked out by now. I had my last windshield and both window motors replaced 2 years ago and have had no problems since. Enjoy!

The major Mini quirk, usually sits in the drivers seat!

Thanks for the kind welcome, from the major quirk in the drivers seat. 2 months, 4,000 miles, and one big smile. 4-5,000 RPM does the trick nicely

Hey i know this thread is kindda old, but hey! who cares! lol (I have also a not so new MCS 02), so far this is what so far i had experience or hear about...
-Stumble - look definition, if you find it, please send me the link (software update i think is the solution).
-Yo-yo - see here (no solution from mini so far, but i think there some aftermarket solutions).
-Power steering pump/fan failure - see here (serious issue, not common though).
-windows failure - watch you windows! (i have to replace my motor actually ).
-Door rust - see here.
-Mushrooming/cracked strut - look for this issue (beneath the bonnet).
-Ford focus racing - l've hear that they like to eat minis' dust!
-Girls like minis - people says that's true.
Etc, Etc... Just go thru the forum and you will fine so many interesting threads, Have a happy motoring.

Welcome to NAM. I just purchased a 2002 MCS about 6 weeks ago and so far no issues. Hopefully the previous owner got everything resolved.

Well.. there's also some cars that never had a mayor issue... i hope that's you case ... how much did you pay for it?
