Hello all,
Name's kyle. From 30 miles north of the city formerly known as New Orleans. Drive a VW Golf now, i like the small cars, but the Mini has so much more to offer from what i understand. Just looking to get a deeper knowledge of them. BTW i'm 6'7" 260lbs. So it's funny that i like these small cars.

Just saying hi,
Kyle

Hello and Welcome to NAM! You aren't the only one out there that likes little cars and happens to be tall. Well I'm not tall but I've met some tall MINI owners

Welcome to the inter sanctum...

What will follow is what this forum is all about...we love our cars!

I have had many cars, from company taurus' to BMW's to Alpha Romeoes.

You can't take the grin off my face while driving the mini.

My quick take

It's a RIOT to drive
It gets attention of those around you
It's CHEAP, to buy and run

and if you decide you don't like it, SELL it for what you paid for it!

Aloha Kyle,

Nice to hear from you. Hope you stay dry and safe.
Your size should fit just fine in a MINI and you will find that the ride is unique and very very very fun. Borders on addicting if you are into "being the driver" (Driver's wanted ala VW).

You can customize so many things about the MINI inside and out and do all sorts of mods. Or you can leave it bone stock and still have plenty to smile about. You choose. Now is a good time to consider a new MINI- fewest problems before the next new version arrives.

Kyle, what ever you do, DO NOT TEST DRIVE A MINI COOPER, because once you do, there's no turning back

I'm Hooked
Kyle,

I just bought one approx. a month ago. Love it to death. I told my wife it was going to be her's, boy was I wrong. Just make sure if you're looking at buying, don't rush, and get every option you want, don't make them talk you into anything, I bought mine already dealer order and on the lot, it was just easier getting one that day. I still love it, and it is amazing to drive.

Funny, but true! I wasn't even thinking about getting a new car, but then one of my coworkers let me drive his MCS, and wow. I played with the online configurator for a bit, looked for more info online (and that's how I found NAM). A couple weeks later, I went to the dealer, drove one of theirs, and came up with a spec that had what I wanted and was reasonably priced. The next day I went back and placed my order.

I've had my MCS about six weeks now, and I really love it.

Yeah, it will be a little while til i can afford one, college student, but i'm starting a painting business. Once that gets off of the ground i'll be more than able to buy a MINI. Let me tell you what i'm into, and you tell me what to look for. I enjoy autoX, i enjoy turning fast. So, what package do you all recommend? works S? lemme know. Thanks for all the speedy responces also. This appears to be an awesome forum. thanks in advance for answering all my questions that i'm sure have been asked a million times before.

I have an '03 Cooper AND an '06 S. Each car has its pluses, so ya gotta drive them before you make any decisions...it's all a matter of feel. I started with the Cooper and still love it for its cornering ability, but felt the need [for speed] and just got a new Royal Grey S [gonna keep the Cooper for shows]. I tracked the Cooper last summer at two 2-day driving schools to get a feel for the car, and I plan to get on the track with the S just as soon as my break-in period is over...so I can learn its own feel as well.

There are a lot of great used Coopers and Cooper S cars out there, so, even if you are in college, the possibility of owning one is NOT out of the question. Most are VERY reasonable and many are offered for sale in NAM.

BTW, I'm just over 6', and weigh around 280 or so. I have NEVER had the driver's seat even close to being all the way back yet.

Test drive a MINI today....GOOD LUCK!

Jeff

Kyle the only thing interior wise I would watch out for, esp. on the S are the Sport seats, with your size and the tight bolsters they might be a little, uh, confining. otherwise don't worry about your height; Dirk Nowitski of the Dallas Mavericks drives a MINI. Welcome and good luck, Jimbo

PS I'm 6' 235 and the sport seats are snug-fitting
